I used to work at Northern Soul nights including all nighters, the music for the most part was guaranteed to get your foot tapping and even dancing on the spot [not much room behind a bar] Can't remember any of the song titles but seem to remember some came off the Wigan Casino Classic albums.
Also some of the most energenic dancing I'd ever seen, 'break dancing' before break dancing was even heard of in America. I must admit I also liked the dress code and the general feeling that everyone was there to dance with no signs of fights what so ever. Sorry for going off topic!!

Stevie Wonder's Uptight , and I Was Made to Love Her tend to cause pleasure. As does Smokey Robinson's Tears of a Clown, and Marvin Gaye's Heard it on the Grapevine. I like ALL Motown soul, to be honest because it reminds me of my very happy childhood.

Same here! I was brought up on Motown, and after I got through adam and the ants and other dodgy pop bands I found i came back to them and knew all the lyrics!!
The town I lived in as a kid (Widnes) was HUGE on motown and there was a big "TAMLA RULES" graffiti on one of the railway bridges that was there for years.
