Your motherboard has two memory slots, each capable of holding up to 1Gb of RAM

Fill your boots:

Try crucial.com. It has a system scanner here: http://www.crucial.com/systemscanner/
which will scan your system and tell you what you need.

Depends on how your existing memory is configured. If your 512 MB is two sticks of 256 MB you'll need to replace them with 2x512 MB.

If your 512 MB is just one stick of 512 mb you can upgrade to 1 GB by adding a 512 mb into the empty slot.

Just done the crucial scan that you suggested & it says I can put in 2x1Gb slots so that will be great. Thanks for your help everyone.

If I can put 2Gb of memory in my computer could I put a single 2Gb slot(if they make them) in or must there be 2x1Gbs.

Most likely it would need to be 2*1GBs, as your motherboard's maximum is 2GB, so it's unlikely it would support it on one stick.

The Crucial scan should have told you what your options are.

According to Crucial "Each memory slot can hold DDR PC2700,DDR PC3200,DDR PC4000 with a maximum of 1GB per slot."

You can download the mobo manual here...
