So never needed one before, but with my husband and I so busy with work lately, we want to spend our free time together rather than cleaning!

Where do I find an honest, reliable and genuine individual who will be paid well for 2-3 hrs cleaning a week?

I have placed an advert on good old SF, but where else can I look? Not much in the local classifieds....:confused:

There are a number of agencies who will supply a cleaner who is CRB checked and insured both if they hurt themselves in your house and if they damage any of your possessions. They're in the Yellow Pages- I use a company called Guardian Angels.

Are guardian angels any good ? how much do they charge?

I think if you're looking for someone to turn up with industrial cleaning equipment and sterilise your house then you'll probably be disappointed because the cleaners from Guardian Angels use your own equipment and cleaning chemicals etc. and there's also a variation from person to person in how they clean and how well you get on with them, but I get on very well with my cleaner who has been with me for 7 years now. When you sign up with Guardian Angels they send you a cleaner and the same person comes to you every week (or however often you want them to come). If your cleaner leaves then they will find you someone else to do the job who will also be CRB checked and will get your keys back from the cleaner if necessary (as they had to do with one cleaner of mine who quit without handing the keys back in).

You pay £7 per visit in company fees, insurance and the like (payable monthly by invoice) and £6.50 per hour to the cleaner when they visit. Many other cleaning companies charge much more than this but if you ask how much the cleaner actually receives it's never a lot more than £6.50 an hour so at least this way you know that the person who does the work gets the money.
