This has been prompted by other thread "how big is Sheffield"

I went to the gift fair in Birmingham NEC this weekend and was talking to a supplier they had bases in Edinburgh and Cornwall.

Not all the goods he supplied were suitable for my shop but I said I did know a shop at the otherside of Sheffield that would probably stock them. He refused point blank saying that they only supply one shop per town?? A TOWN???

I guess they only supply one shop in London then???

Do people outside Sheffield have a warped idea on how big the city is???

I went to Manchester recently to speak to some owners of manufacturing business well established in Manchester for over 30 years. Speaking to him, he asked where I was from. Sheffield, I replied - he says oh I have heard of that small town, its just near Huddersfield isn't it?

I didn't actually know what to say to him!

So many people underestimate Sheffield. Its an iceberg of opportunity, the tip of which has only been discovered.

From Stocksbridge to Bowshaw car boot I clocked 23 miles using the M1 and ring roads. It was 20 miles back through the city centre. As the crow flies it would be even less but I'm not a crow and I can't fly. It is a big city. Its just the southern softies being their usual ignorant selves. Free bars mite.......£3 old chap...Ha!!
