View Full Version : Has any seen the film, SAW?
I just finished watching this movie and all i could say when it ended was 'oh my god' & 'wow...'.
This movie is without a dought one of the best horror/thrillers out there, and if u were put off by the limited advertising, like me, see it asap. It is such a strong movie, in more ways than 1, and u will NOT be disapointed.
Kittenkel 31-01-2005, 21:49 I totally agree, it's a fantastic film. It's really interesting, tense & sooo exciting. It's disturbing too - the leg scene went right through me!! I saw it at the cinema and I'll definately be buying it on DVD - according to Amazon it's out on 21st Feb, so not long to wait!
Yay! Finally someone replies! That scene was really strong i know. The acting was superb, and the thought that the killer wasnt actually a killer, was really cool. Lol. I wasnt expecting that ending tho! jeez!
pitsmoor 31-01-2005, 22:28 Yeah it has too be one of the best films ive seen in years the twists in the plots are very good, but for gods sake just shoot the man. Thats all i kept saying lol.:D
I've got Saw but I aint had time to watch it yet!
Looks good from what I've heard.
A.B.Yaffle 01-02-2005, 00:10 Saw Saw, and I agree it was a good film. Clever plot and unexpected ending, though of course left open for the inevitable sequel(s).
I thought it was a bit dull and didn't watch it to the end, though when someone told me the ending it seemed fairly obvious.
There were some mildy gory bits and some fairly good ideas but I just lost interest after about 30 minutes and din't care who lived or who died as long as something interesting happened.
I think a better film (and probably the one Saw was "inspired" by) is Seven.
Lickable 01-02-2005, 08:35 It was a superb film. Actually left me feeling disrturbed, like a good horror should.
The last film that did that to me was the Tartan Films 'Ring'
Still waiting on a new fright.

It's not as scarey or gory as Seven Nats, you will be fine.
My mum watched Saw and thought it was scarey, but she screams watching "Most haunted" so you can guess her fear threshold.
NatalieSheff 01-02-2005, 11:00 i remember reading the hannibal books and wetting myself nearly. the films just didnt seem as bad. good though. our imaginations are scary. never seen the chucky films either
The chucky films are so funny you should watch a couple, honestly you will laugh.
I thought the Hanibal Lector films were rubbish compared to the books, like you said your imagination is so much better than any special effect.

you know who can be creepy...ruth rendell who does inspector wexford, she writes other books too that can be disturbing. james herbert creeps me out too, he gets a bit rude sometimes and its not really needed

I like Stephen King, and Clive Barker (though you might not, his books tend to have lots of sex and violence in them), but I realy prefer sci-fi or factual books (how dull am I).
How can anyone describe that film as 'mildly gory' it's gruesome! I'm not very good with gore but that pushed it a little for me.
Otherwise, I enjoyed the plot and the psychological drama.
*Shudder*

A.B.Yaffle 01-02-2005, 13:48 There have been a few good horror films out recently... Grudge was another very good one. Hide and Seek looks good too... will be going to see that soon.
Lickable 01-02-2005, 14:33 The Grudge was a really bad remake of the Japanese classic that is heavily based on the Ring (Another Japanese classic).
Ghosthunter 01-02-2005, 15:40 I was very dissapointed with Saw. It was boring and the leg sawing scene was pathetic. Sorry but its no Se7en beater.
I do like ring 1 and 2. not too fussed about ring 0 though. Has anyone seen dark water? I thought that was quite good, but seemed to lose the plot a bit later on.

The sawing scene was fantastic! I was totally freaked out by it and im a true horror movie fan, not many films make me shiver like SAW has. I have also seen Se7en and it was quite good, but i feel SAW developed on its ideas and really impressed me. The ending was completely unexpected for me.
Ive heard Creep is gonna be good, and i have the Grudge, but havent got round to watching it. The Ring is the only film similar the Saw that has creeped me out.
Cmon people more talk on the physcological thrillers/horrors!

Cmon people more talk on the physcological thrillers/horrors! Saw wasn't a bad horror, EVP was crap and I loved Creep can't wait for creep 2:thumbsup:
I don't know if i am missing something, but i didn't think saw was very good at all and the leg sawing could have been a lot better
Kristian 01-03-2005, 15:57 I found it interesting, but not enjoyable. I was far more frightened by Creep! :gag:

I strongly agree! I thought it was Danny Glover's character at first, but by the end, I was shoked even more!!
i loved it.. this kinda film doesnt get made that often... as mentioned SEVEN was of a similar style and i think they are just as good as eachover.
:D loved it.. and i think it was more disturbing than seven was...but anything that has something `clown' related in is always scary!! arghhh!!!
