Well, there goes the neighbourhood!!! In 8 years have not seen one dumped and burnt out car in Stannington, and the first one appeared last night on Liberty Hill, dumped and torched on the pavement by the letterbox and bus stop sometime last night. A total wreck. Joyriders? Drug dealers?

Hope this does not become a habit......

Its somewhat unusual round here though. Model unrecognizable after being burnt out totally to a bare frame. Nothing worse on a road than a burnt out still smouldering stolen car 200 yards from your house. .....by the looks of it, it took the fire brigade long enough to get there, or maybe they just left it to burn itself out. It was still there 2 hours ago so I have no idea when they will shift it. The kids who live round there were starting to hover round it like flies and it all looked highly dangerous to me. Apparently it was still smoking at 8am this morning according to the neighbours.

Grrr my neighbourhood too!

I must observe though that just down at the bottom of Rivelin Valley (which is a stone's throw from Liberty Hill) has long been a favoured spot for torching stolen vehicles.

Welcome to the world.

Now your next sport is seeing how long it takes for the council to shift it.

Had a walk up to Stanedge Pole yesterday. There's a burnt out car there as well, must have been a struggle to get it up there.
A Vauxall Corsa with alloys, if anyone's had one go missing. Don't know how long it's been there.

Did any of you guys bother to contact the police or street force?

I've reported cars in various states of abandonment (evidence of crime) and they are both very reactive to such info

Or was that last week's target on statistics?

It's a shame the b*stards weren't still sat in it when it caught light. Harsh? Yup.

I've lived in Heeley (just down from Arbourthorne) for about 8 years now and never seen a single burnt-out car.
So much for the areas bad reputation.

Yes, I used to live near the duck/fishing pond down by the firestation and we once had a car in that state pushed into the river at the bottom of the garden in the middle of the night. The police didn't believe us until they came and saw it for themselves!

as of 1448 today the old wreck is still there. The Police were lookingat it this morning but all they did was look at it and drive off. As its right in front of someones house I am sure the Council are very aware of it.

I rang Streetforce who had not been notified of it so I rang the police. It turns out it was stolen and so the insurance company are responsible for the removal not Streetforce. The police are going to get back to me when a date has been organised for removal.

How did you figure that one out? Perhaps they haven't reported it either?
