Hi,

I thought I would post under a different and more appropriate heading, thanks for your advice guys under the 'recording voice on PC' heading too.

Anyone got any ideas how I get started using cakewalk? I cannot seem to load a backing track for cakewalk to save it then for me to record my voice over the backing track to make a demo.
Some say it's easy but to me it aint, I just can't seem to get to grips with the basics and the tutorial is just beyond me!

Any help or advice on how I can get going would be very much appreciated!

Thanks in advance,

Jane & Nick.

Hello

What format is the backing track, I'm presuming it's from a cd?

If so, you'll need to rip the audio from the CD to a .wav file. I'm not sure whether cakewalk will do this for you. I don't use the program, but I'm guessing the option will be logically on the file menu, some thing like "import", or if there's an audio menu.

Once the track is imported, it will either be put straight into a track or be stored in some sort of pool, from where you'll be able to drag it into a track.

To rip the audio cd you could use an audio editing app, or even a burning prog will do it, such as nero or roxio.
Hope this helps..
