Has anyone else had problems with parcels not arriving in Sheffield 5?
I've had four items not turn up over the last month, a couple from ebay and a couple from Amazon. Am I just unlucky or is it happening to anyone else?

A few questions:

Who was it sent by ie which courier or service - Royal Mail or someone else, is it Royal Mail is it a proper parcel sent by parcel post or a 2nd or 1st class packet

Do you know the item(s) were definatley posted

Were the item(s) posted in Liverpool

Was there some one in to receive the item at the address it was due to be delivered ?

i live in s5, i was out on fri when they tried to deliver my parcel from QVC, now it has gone missing. i have to wait 15 days before it can be officially classed as missing, all the sorting office say is it might turn up.

They were first and second class royal mail packets. Yes they were posted (well the sellers said they were, two have refunded my money). I don't know where they were posted from and yes I was in to receive them. I have asked the senders to contact the Royal Mail to see if the packages can be traced. I will be refunded but it's not that, it just seems funny for them all to go missing all of a sudden when I've never had a problem before. The items were games and dvds.

I live in S5 and am waiting for an Amazon package that is now late (value approx. £50). I reported it and got a standard looking email explaining they were experiencing delays and asked me to report it to them again if it hadn't arrived in the next 3 working days. Hopefully Amazon will just refund no questions asked if it doesn't turn up. This has only happened to me once before, with play.com and there was no prob getting a refund (the original item did arrive 6 weeks later and of course I sent it back :)). eBay is a different story though...
I don't think I'll be doing anyomore of my xmas shopping online this year as the general feeling is that Royal Mail is a bit rubbish at the moment, all prob down to the increased demand during the run up to xmas and demotivated staff.

I'm not in S5, am in S35 but I had a parcel go missing that I sent (ebay) and the buyer refused to go through royal mails claim thingy, she claimed off my paypal and I'm now out of pocket waiting for royal mail to sort something out. I've sent the proof of postage off, they've probably lost that!

Amazon aren't Royal Mail 1st and 2nd class, another company now has the contract. They collect and sort them, then give them to Royal Mail to deliver.

As above, it's more than likely the delays are either the fault of Amazon or the company the collects and sorts them.

They just took your word for it that the parcels didnt arrive, and gave you your money back just like that? Smells a bit suspicious to me.

Royal Mail are far from perfect, but Ebay sellers aren't helping. Having made over 500 transactions myself, I know that people lie about what date they've sent something, how they've sent it, etc. I've never had anything go missing, but have had many things arrive a week or more after the seller says they've posted them - funnily the date on the postage label is nearly always within the previous 2 days.

It's the sellers (ie the person who posted it) responsibility to claim, it's nothing to do with the recipient.

And always send parcels signed for, it's only about 70p extra and then people can't scam you by saying they haven't recieved it and doing a paypal chargeback.

Anything that isnt signed for, if the buyer says they haven't recieved it it's your word against theirs unfortunately, and Paypal ALWAYS sides with the buyer and refunds the money, unless you can produce proof of delivery.

I live in S5 and I received someone elses parcel, for an address that didn't exist, and there was no return address, so I doubt they will ever get it back! I have been putting letters back in the post for the previous resident, not that theres much point cos he moved to Australia, and a while ago I received one back with my writing clearly on it saying "No longer at this address". I have stopped returning them now. Its been 19 months now and I don't think he'll get them anyway.

Everyone was complaining about posties going on strike, but this is the kind of thing that happens when you work for a company thats trying to cut costs left right and centre. I was a postie for 5 years before I got my own round - some people are doing something different every week and have worked in my office 6 or 7 years!

Also Royal Mail do not give out full time jobs any more, that along with the fact the job is nothing like people imagine it to be means they have a high turnover of part time staff.

The postie will just have been trying to deliver it to the right address, as the one on the parcel didn't exist. If the sender doesn't get it back it's their own fault!

And letters for the previous resident HAVE to be delivered unless you contact the office and specifically ask for them not to be, as someone has paid the postage for those letters to be delivered.

And no, he won't get them - the ones you send back will be returned to the sender, and they should then stop sending them as they know the recipient is no longer at the address - they usually don't take a blind bit of notice though and carry on sending them anyway.

i live in s6 and i have had a few packages that have not yet arrived, a couple of them are from before the strike. i went to the sorting office to ask about them and was told there was still a backlog and they will probably turn up but couldnt say when. i have lost all my faith in royal mail.
