View Full Version : Where can I hire exercise machines from?
beansfeast 31-01-2005, 12:29 Hey all!
Does anyone know if I can hire exercise equipment and where from? I've tried searching Google and looking through the Yellow pages but no success.
I'm preferable wanting good quality equipment rather than the usual cheapest stuff from Argos etc!
As an alternative, anyway got any equipment they may no longer want?
Cheers

Why not join the Virgin Gym for a month, you can cancel it if you don't like it, you will get access to loads of machines, the pool, classes etc.
I have joined greens gym on eccie road- its only a tenner a week and the facilities are fabulous!!
beansfeast 31-01-2005, 13:31 I'm not the 'gym type' (no offence). I'd much prefer to have a machine at home and spend a quick 30mins on it regularly. Plus it works out much cheaper in the long run, and it saves me time travelling! ;)
So I guess no-one has come across anywhere where you can hire the equipment then!?
Don't know where you can hire any equipment, but I bought an eliptcal trainer a few months ago on e-bay. It was brand new, never been put together, and I paid a quarter of what it was being sold for new. It was beng sold by someone in Sheffield, so was easy to pick up. Worth a look - you can always sell it on again and buy a different machine when you fancy a change!

Try www.chillisearch.co.uk/f/i/fitness_equipment_for_hire or

Yes you can , but its usually quite expensive, I looked at it earlier this year.
It was at least £60 a month for a running machine?
so i now jog around the block! much cheaper and healthier.
Don't buy machines - they are too specific in their action and don't promote the development of core muscles that give stability etc.
Buy 2 dumbells - I got some 10kg ones for £8 each at Decathlon,
You can do near enough a full body workout just with them. They don't take up room and will exercise you better than a number of huge machines.
There is a sheet in the box, but I can advise on exercises if you want.
hi, i have a motorised treadmill for sale in the sale section, ive reduced it to £99 aswell.
get urself a bargain
beansfeast 01-02-2005, 10:15 Thanks for letting me know dodgy33. Though not sure if I'd be wise buying from someone with 'dodgy' in their name!!
:hihi:
Hi
As an alternative, Five Star Treatment on Chesterfield Road has a cross trainer, rowing machine and other work out bits that they have available for the public to use. I prefer this to a regular gym as you are the only person in the room using the equipment so you don't need to feel concious. They have a web page with their contact details on, or you can email them for prices on 'Fivestar4you@aol.com'. Hope this helps.
Why don't you start your own business?? Seems like there is a bit of gap in the market...
You could hire stuff out to people, whilst having the use of the equipment not being used yourself, but would take a while to get your money back.
Or you could try and find a group of people who are all willing to invest and buy a piece of equipement each, and swap every month or two.
