Last night on the 82 to Stannington, the bus reached the bottom of Stannington Rd at about 2330.
5 people boarded the bus,3 men and two youths,,,one of the men was a pensioner,(remember the word pensioner)one of the two youths had a student weekly saver (rember the word student).

A few words were exchanged between the student and some other passengers but nothing to worried about.

The bus then stopped just before Stanwood and the student walked down the bus, punched the pensioner in the head and jumped off the bus.

So now,as in the past Bus drivers have been labled as t***s because of a few incidents that have happened.
In my eyes I see this incident as a tarnish on the reputation of students.
The same brush could be used to say all Students are t***s,however being a rational person I know this not to be true.

I know that stannington has a student population, maybe some of you may know this person as Im pretty sure he will be boasting of his conquest today.

What makes it worse is the equation of, young man v pensioner, imust at this point commend the composure of the pensioner who was not phased by this at all.

However mouthy little student, full of threats and abuse you realy are a sad person.
What will it be next?,maybe you can try you hand at a bit of child battering, afterall there is a big school close by.

Bear in mind today while at your place of study, this coward is among you.

If the pensioner had wanted to take it further im sure the many witnesses would only be too happy to assist.

So Mr Im so hard I pick on old people, remember in future, when on a large number of busses in sheffield to smile when your on camera, as a nice smile may go in your favour when in court.

Oh and while we are on the subject of passengers,,,to all of you that tried to push your way onto the bus while the driver put the ramp down for the wheelchair user, well done for being a total bunch of morons.

Shocking.

But why is the fact this person was a student of any interest?

Its not realy of any interest,I was just staing the facts as I saw them.

It was a way to describe how we tend to pigeonhole people into a role as we see them.

Same as All Bus Drivers are tossers,we all know this not to be true,in the same way all Students are tossers,we also know this not to be true.

Infact as I see it most students are intelligent people wanting to advance in life by going to university and the like.

Did the bus driver give chase after the student, did he call the police, did he get put of his chair to see if the pensioner was ok?

More details please Tango2 :D

The driver did what was required for the situation, the youth in question legged it from the bus,and was prevented from reboarding the vehicle.
The pensioner was fine, infact fair play to the old boy he wanted to give him a right good leathering.

No police action was requested.

Sadly incidents like this are not uncommon, the last time i saw something like this happen the police didnt attend the driver had to take the bus and meet them at the police station.

The old guy was correct in what he said by stating thats what people are like these days.
So why should these people, who fought so we can enjoy the freedom we live in today have to be subjected to such treatment?.

Infact why should anyone?.

Just as a note the old boy was a bit tastey, I wouldnt have tried it on with him.

No police action request? I thought Bus Drivers had a duty to report ANY incidents of a legal matter to the authorities whether or not the pensioner requested it or not.

It's a legal requirement as part of their public service, sounds like like the driver didn't quite do all what was required of him ;)

I'd been inclined to think that this person wasn't a University student but a college student. People at University have more sense than to punch a pensioner in the head. They may be childish and move your wheelie bins, lift up your windscreen wipers etc but I doubt they would punch a senior citizen in the head randomly.

Im sure he did what he could, but it sounds almost like you say it was the driver that was at fault.

I gave my name as a witness, which is a dam site more than what some of the passengers did.

Well said, contrary to the opinions of several people on here, students are NOT the scum of the Earth!

And neither are Bus drivers for that matter.

whats the point of picking a fight by throwing a cowardly punch and then running off the bus knowing the old fella could give chase?

still gotta give it to the senior citizens, some of em' are stronger then you think and will give those much younger a bloody good walloping if they got the chance.

ridiculous punching the old fella though.

The cruel irony behind all this is that when the old boy was the same age as this student he was probably lugging a Lee Enfield around Europe to ensure that future children of men of his age would be able to enjoy education & life in some semblence of peace.

 Don wonders how today's student, fresh from his PS2 in his bedroom at his mummy's house, would cope with a 4 year tour of duty?

Then a career down the pit....
