Dr DivX has always been my No.1 choice, closely followed by AutoGK

Does this Dr DivX thing convert FROM MP4 to other formats? Such as AVI or MPEG? I have an *ahem* aquired, video file in MP4 format that I want to convert to MPEG so I can burn it to DVD and watch it on a normal DVD player.

Rich, Auto GK does convert to .avi files if that is any help, and it is completely free to download. I use it to get files from DVDs to convert to .avi so I can use them in Windows movie maker and upload them to youtube.

This is the best software that I have used. It's easy to use & you can cut bits of the video out when converting (handy if there is any king of annoying advert attached to a download)

Here is a link to download

You probably don't want to pay out, but I'd strongly suggest a DVD player that handles DivX. This one looks interesting, it has USB, a card reader and can also apparently rip CDs to MP3...

Not only would a dedicated player save you time in re-encoding on your PC, you wouldn't lose any quality in the re-encode.

As for MP4. I was under the impression that MP4, AVI and DIVX files are all the same, they just have different extensions.
