This will mean on most City services the last buses to suburbs will depart around 1800/6pm in order to be in garage for 7pm for those readers who don't understand timetables!
Usual service levels on the railway too over Christmas:
24th December - normal timetable but with some routes finishing about 8pm
25th-26th December - no service
27th December - normal service but with some early morning trains cancelled
28th-30th December - normal service
31st December - normal service but with some routes finishing about 8pm
1st January - normal service but with some trains cancelled, especially in the morning
2nd January - normal service
Note some routes will have engineering work taking place over the holiday period which may mean a revised timetable, possibly with replacement buses over part of the route.
See www.nationalrail.co.uk for full service details.
Good job Dad's off then over Christmas, I've offered to work Boxing Day on the Lunchtime request show up at the Hallamshire as Boxing Day falls on a Wednesday this year.
Supertram has been ordered to run by the PTE on Boxing Day to serve the Meadowhall shoppers as the centre is open 9-6 so expect a service approx 7am to 7pm on Boxing Day
silverknight 19-11-2007, 19:52 Details of supertram and the supertram bus link over the festive season are available at:www.stagecoachsupertram.co.uk

They ran boxing day last year. We are running boxing day this year but the rotas have not been organised for it yet.
semerpus 19-11-2007, 21:18 so just cos the greedy owners and shopkeepers of Meadowhall (greedy b******S)have decided to open longer on Boxing day SYPTE have ORDERED supertram to run longer on Boxing day???
Why is everything beholden to Meadowhall??? Would Sheffield grind to a halt if it stayed shut for 2 whole days.Perish the thought!!
I expect tram staff and shop staff in Meadowhall will probably be working for basic rate too..maybe as Meadowhall and it's grasping owners are behind the reason the trams are running maybe they'd like to pay and enhancement to those unfortunates who have to work
Why hasn't SYPTE ordered First to run buses on Boxing day???
Nice of Meadowhall to ruin peoples Christmas by allowing them to have only the one day off over the festive period
Foxydebs...my mate who works on trams tells me it's volunteers for Boxing day on the trams, that's why there's no rota up!
danradclife0 19-11-2007, 22:46 suppose they wont give any more days on seven day savers then what a farce
Michael_N 20-11-2007, 08:31 SYPTE also orders the 707 bus route in Doncaster to run on Christmas, Boxing and New Years Day along with the frenchgate been open on all of these dates, although only the INTERCHANGE is open for the 707 bus on Christmas day.
I understand that 4 very special workers on Vhristmas day at Frenchgate will be working for £20 an hour on Christmas Day as a thank you! (where do i sign up ;))

It is volunteers as well as staé rostered to work it. We are operating a service from 07.30 to 19.30. It is double pay for boxing day.

also match at brammall lane
I am hiring a car over Christmas.
I have to go to see relatives and go to a football match. How are you supposed to do all this when there is no transport?
So much for my efforts at being green and reducing my carbon footprint.
How are hotel, pub and restaurant staff getting to work?
edit: and shop staff for that matter?

Bus? Tram? Walk it? Taxis even?
slimsid2000 06-12-2007, 14:54 First will not be extending or reducing the price of their weekly tickets to account for the fact that there are no buses on Xmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years Day.
Or to put it another way, they will charge you for something that they have no intention of providing.

I hope not. Why not make a New Years resolution to organise a p*** up in a brew..... I mean run a proper bus service?

God, have you nothing better to do than whine about everything First do?
There is no reason why they should, and having had a look at Stagecoachs website there's no mention of them doing any different.
No-one's forcing you to buy a weekly ticket - even i've seen the poster saying to think first.
In response to your latter comment, you do what you want in a brew, me i like my tea without urine.

since when have first ever been interested in providing a public service-shareholders first, passengers a poor second is their way of thinking. I have a car so gave up on that useless bag of shysters ages ago, its more reliable and cheaper
