Snook 31-01-2005, 13:27 This is such a hard one... even donkeys like Carlton Palmer and Alan Smith got caps... 1. Steve Sutton 2. 3. Julian Dicks 4. John Ebbrell (C) 5. Steve Bruce 6. Earl Barrett 7. Ruel Fox 8. Billy Bonds 9. Kevin Campbell 10. Mark Bright 11. Howard Kendell Subs: Simon Tracey Lee Chapman Franz Carr Steve Chettle Dalian Atkinson This is a nightmare... my knowledge doesn't stretch that far back and most decent players have had a call-up at some point. Lickszz 31-01-2005, 23:07 I must admit this is quite tough. I'm not even 100% sure that all the players I've listed have not been capped at some stage. And although born in England many have managed to find family links with other home nations such as Wales etc, which makes it increasingly more difficult. Here is my eleven. 1. Tony Coton 2. Chris Fairclough 3. Julian Dicks 4. Steve Bruce 5. Paul Elliott 6. Chris Bart-Willaims 7. Robbie Earle 8. Steve Watson 9. Dalian Atkinson 10. Cyril Regis 11. Ian Woan Subs: Steve Sutton Stuart Slater Rodney Wallace Mark Bright Paul Warhust Ian Snodin Terry Hurlock Earl Barrett Snook 01-02-2005, 12:34 Some good choices there... I was gonna put Robbie Earle as well, but he was capped by Jamaica... although I suppose that is only because wasn't capped for England. Similar thing with Muzzy Izzett, who I also considered. I seem to remember Cyrille Regis playing for england... not sure how many times though. Warren Barton actually did play for England. I remember seeing him have an absolute stinker at Elland Road in a match against Sweden around ten years ago. He'd just signed for Newcastle, and the Geordies sat near me didn't look too happy! Snook 01-02-2005, 14:14 Originally posted by Greenback Warren Barton actually did play for England. I knew I'd get one wrong... I shall have to think of another right away... Did Gary Charles get any caps? Greenback 01-02-2005, 15:14 Originally posted by Snook D'oh! I knew I'd get one wrong... I must admit I did consider Ruel Fox but thought there was a slight chance he could have gained a sneeky cap somewhere along the line. Franz Carr was a wonderful dribbler very tricky, his main problem was that his crosses and final delivery were generally appalling. He was like s**t off a shovel too! I believe he was a sprinter as well, and had to choose between athletics or football... I agree though, his game leaved alot to be desired... that's why I favoured Ruel Fox, who I didn't think had been capped. |
