Try this site - they have a good selection of resources plus a helpline if you wish to speak to someone.

I've never heard of anyone managing to claim for it as a disability, however, looking at the link below it appears that it might be possible.

As always - Google is your friend.

A relation suffered, had a hysterectomy and got a complete new lease of life!

A hysterectomy may or may not be the answer - doesn't always help everyone but it's something to discuss with your wife's consultant. If it's having such an impact then it's certainly worth sitting down and talking all options.

Hi buddaboy

If your wife really is suffering that much then I suggest that she speaks openly and honestly with her consultant about the limiting factors on her life and quite how much this is stopping her doing things.

There are things that can be done to make her life more comfortable. They may involve surgery, but they can really help in making her life less painful. If you aren't considering having further children then there's probably no real reason why she couldn't have surgery to help her out is there?

I speak as someone who's life was made truly intolerable by endometriosis. I had a total hysterectomy including removal of ovaries and fallopian tubes at 32 and childless and it was the best thing I think I've ever done. Surgery showed that there was no chance I could ever have conceived anyway because both ovaries were diseased and both fallopian tubes were blocked so the loss of my reproductive organs actually made no difference as to whether I could have children- it only made a difference to my pain and how hard my days were.

I wish you and your wife a successful resolution to this pain.

I'm another one who suffered with this, although it wasn't diagnosed as such. Only after I had a hysterectomy (at 35) did I find out what had been making my life, and that of my family, such a misery. That was 26 years ago, and I've never regretted having the op. New lease of life for me too.
