Can anyone recommend a guest house or B&B in the Manor area? Will need to get accommodation for my family - as we've been invited to a wedding over there

Any ideas gratefully accepted.

I would personally recommend staying out of the area and take a taxi in

theres the travel lodge on prince wales rd,but if weddings on the manor are anything to go by,you may well get free accomadation in the nick overnight whan all kicks off.

all the weddings i knew of on the manor finished up with a bigger police presence than guests.

Something old = Manor Lodge

Something new = The plywood on nextdoor's windows

Something borrowed (permanantly) = The wedding car

Something blue = 'nee naa, nee naa, nee naa'.

I agree with all of the above, but if you insist try upmystreet.com (http://www.upmystreet.com/nrs/?l1=s2&cat=1231) or Smoothhound.co.uk (http://www.smoothhound.co.uk/sheffiel.html) both of which can do a postcode search. (S2 is quite a large area though, so be more specific if poss)

Kirky lives on the Manor, send him a PM and see if there's room at their house. :P

I was interested to read the replies to the fella wanting a guesthouse near/on the Manor. I had a little chuckle to myself. Yes, the Manor has its fair share of problem families, yobs and other anti-social elements. But there are far worst places to live in Sheffield than the Manor. The Manor has a bad reputation from the past and it is hard to shake this off. Crime is actually falling and arrest rates are up. The vast majority of us are law abiding and contribute to a positive side of the Manor.

When I lived in Crookes, (for my first 27 years) I saw big fights at wedding receptions. Fights at wedding receptions can happen where ever you live.

Right that’s me finished. I’m off to the Springwood for a pint or two. :)

Thanks for your constructive and not so constructive replies.

I'll keep searching!

Apparently the reception is somewhere called the Embassy. Don't worry about the fighting - we'll be out of there before owt like that kicks off.

Unless of course it's between the bride and groom. tee hee Then I'll be taking photos.

No offence meant to the bride and groom - who use this board. lol

If you;re going to the Embassy, it will be as easy to stay in town as it's only a couple of miles away. The Travel Lodge on the A57 Parkway will be the easiest though!

Try the Sheffield Tourist Information Office - they seem good at finding places to stay.

Nah, I don't do spoof threads. I would find it hard to do so because I lack an essential quality. A sense of humour.

Btw, Thanks Tony. I've located a guest house just 3 miles away from the area! It is a last resort, as we're wanting to move into the Sheffield area.

I thought Kirky lived on Manor Park?. Don't get the two confused there owdlad ;) .

Being as the Embassy is on Intake, I'd guess Moving on doesn't need to be anywhere near the Manor and i would agree with most of the other post's that the city center is a good place to look.

Well I knew this thread would get its fair share of flak! ;o)

I was told that the Manor would be a good place to start my search.

Sorry about that then. The travelodge looks nearest. When are you going? They have a 'tennertastic' offer on at the moment, so you may hit lucky with the price!

Here's a link to check (http://www.travelodge.co.uk/book_rooms/choose.php?hotel_id=174)
