I noticed that some owners of leasehold houses are still paying for expensive building insurance to the freeholders' nominated brokers.
Since Feb 2005, owners of leasehold houses are free to choose their own insurer but they must serve a formal legal notice. Free advice can be obtained from the local Citizen's Advice Bureau ( CAB).
