HI All,
Does anyone know where I can recylce an old pc, ideally in west sheffield. I want to do by right by the environment, but am having a trouble finding anything local and cheap.
Thanks in advance
Simon

If the pc is one which works, I know a few people whom could make use of it in the east of sheffield. You needn't have to pay for disposal if you have a working machiine...

Hi Simon

If you take your PC to any of the Council run waste disposal sites there are computer and electrical recycling facilities there.

Nearest one to me is just of Herries Road.

Try the Action for Stannington site: http://www.actionforstannington.org.uk/recycling.htm

They'll pick up from home if it's in working order.

Hi, and thanks, All,
I couldn't get it to boot and took it for repair,. but after charging me 30 quid they said it was beyond repair so it looks like the council tip -- unless there are any techies out there that want to prove my local computer shop wrong.
Best
Simon

There are quite a few computer disposal companies in the area.. hand it into one of these and make sure they issue you with a WEEE (Waste Electrical) certificate

Before you get rid of it remove the Hard drive and physically destroy it.

Removing the hard drive is a good way to protect your data...

However even if you are unsure how to do this, rest assured we utilise data wiping hardware that destroys data to NHS and Defence standards.. We provide these services for many government organisations and guarantee it
