View Full Version : Unusual pet parade
HappyHoosier 17-11-2007, 12:31 People have mentioned unusual pets on other threads, just in passing. Rats, scorpions, snakes, etc. So what critters do you all have/have you had in your menageries? Feel free to tell us their names and include photos if you like!
melthebell 17-11-2007, 12:34 we always have rats
we have a cat too...hetty (born when hetty wainthroppe investigates was being filmed in the village we were living in at the time)
These days I only have cats, a dog and foster kittens, but I've also had 2 tarantulas (a Mexican red kneed and a Chilean Pink), a garter snake and a boa, and when I was a child I had fish and stick insects too.

purdyamos 17-11-2007, 12:58 I've just been sent a photo of Mojo1's 'little sausages'. They are sooooo cute, weird little critters. I hope she can post it here.
She also has a Love Monkey and they're quite rare I believe, though she doesn't need a license.

You don't need a license to keep a love monkey and they're really easy to care for once you've trained them. You wouldn't believe how much I'm being charged to have him neutered though:o:hihi:
I have thirteen rats at the mo an eleven of them look like this http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u49/monkeyloon/003.jpg:love:
purdyamos 17-11-2007, 13:14 ^^^^^ That photo's to scale, too. Poor mummy rat. :o
ShinyPurple 17-11-2007, 13:44 Be careful with those love monkeys..they start out small and sweet but they grow huge & can eat you out of house & home. Lots end up being abandoned because their owners just don't know how to train them properly :hihi:
Current:
3 rats
3 lizards (green anoles)
2 spiders (cobolt blue/goliath)
2 baby Scorpions (heterometrus sp but not sure which, possibly spinifer)
Previous:
Dogs, cats, rats, hamsters, gerbils, rabbits by the burrow load, hissing roaches (they were fun!), if I rememebr any others I'll add later!
(distant) Future hopes:
Beardie or water dragon
eastern collared lizards
rough green snake
colourful frog or two
possibly chipmonk(s)
assasin bugs
would love a dog or cat too...

It's much kinder to take them out back and shoot them than to abandon them to the elements, I find.:hihi:
Nothing really unusual at the moment, dogs, cats, rabbits, ponies and goldfish, but in the past I have had:
chickens
goats
sheep (on loan for a while)
Goats are the funniest though. I would love to have goats again :hihi:
