View Full Version : Downloading porn images onto a mobile phone
ive been out for a pint tonight with some friends,one of there mates was showing off his mobile phone downloads.
three of the downloads were pornographic and i mentioned that if i downloaded the same mpegs onto my pc i could be arrested.
they tried to convince mr that if it is hetrosexual then they are not breaking the law, whats the rules? can they download onto a phone and not get arrested while if a pc user does it he is charged with downloading porn? a fiver bet is on this i say its illegal,they say its not...
If the subjects are over the age of concent and they 'Appear' to be in no distress then it is not illegal to have these images on your phone or your pc.
This is what i read a few week ago in the UK's best selling computer magazine.

Downloading pirate porno films on to your pc is illegal cos piracy is illegal, but if you decide to pay for your porn on t'internet then go for it my son (Not that I know of course :hihi:)

IANAL.....
However, as far as I know the nature of the imagery will determine whether it is viewed as obscene in the eyes of the law.
So whether the act of creating the image on the phone by downloading it is illegal or not depends upon the nature of the image. If it's of a 'standard' that could be found in a legally purchasable magazine, and your friends are of an age where they could legally buy that magazine, then I wouldn't expect an offense to have been committed.
But, as I say, I'm Not A Lawyer....

the one i saw passed round was a 25 stone,ish woman sat on top of a man apparently having sex,the other one was a horse and a woman,surely this cant be legal,their argument is they paid to download it so in their opinion its legal otherwise the phone company would be liable for trafficking in obscene pornography
Beastiality is illegal in this country and i doubt the law will change on this.......ever!.

You can access and download pornographic content on 3G mobiles.
There was quite the hoo-harr over it when 3G was released and kids managed to download pr0n in schools!

Actually, the porn laws in this country are so victiorian - but then again, the tabloids seem to be able to publish what they want.

When I saw IANAL I thought you were trying to tell me something about the images you were trying to download to your mobile phone.
I think it'd be much safer to say, in block capitals: I AM NOT A LAWYER!!!!!!!!!!
