some lovely darling children threw a handful of gravel at my car as i drove past and a few minor chips appeared. since then the chips have got a tad bigger so i was thinking of getting mr AA to send the windscreen doc out to fix them BUT!! they say its free of charge if you have fully comp insurance...how does that work? do i need pay anything and will my insurance go up ??

You will have to pay the excess but it probably wont affect your insrance. Check you policy for the amount of excess for windscreen - usually around £50.

Most fully comp insurance will stand you a replacement windscreen every two years without affecting your no claims at all. When I used to do very high business milage, I had quite a few replacement windscreens, in my cars and never a problem at all. If you pay an extra 20 quid they would upgrade your winscreen to a posher one with a built in shaded stripe to stop the sun blinding you. Well worth the effort. Especially in the winter with the low sun at dusk.

Check your own policy, but some insurance companies pay for chips (FOC) because it would cost them more to pay for your replacement windscreen (minus your excess) if you left them to develop into cracks :thumbsup:
