I'm thinking of joining up to this gym and I'll be having a look myself.

Just wondering if anyone using it has any opinions of it... like how busy it gets, whether it's well run and maintained, what're the people like who go.

I'm a member at Greens at the mo and they just made me pay 25 quid for a new "fob" when I already pay £48 a month membership, the rotten swines....

Have been a member of S10 since it opened, and a few quibbles aside, I do think it's good value for money. The University staff rate is something like £33 a month, no upfront joining fee as far as I know, and that gives you unlimited access to the gym (which is large and spacious), most classes and the swimming pool, sauna and steam room (which are usually broken!). Might be a few pounds more for people with no association with the University, but I think it still compares well with the commercial outfits.

I normally go at around 5.30pm, which can be quite busy, but nowhere near as bad as other places I've been. The reason for this is that students are offered a discounted off peak fee, which means they can't use the facilities after 5pm on weekdays. My main criticism is that the opening hours outside term time are sometimes quite restrictive (over Christmas for example) and they close at 5pm on weekends, which seems a bit early. All in all, I would definitely recommend that you go and have a look around and se what you think.
