The pro-hunt lobby are claiming that the Parliament Act 1949 is invalid since it was itself passed under the Parliament Act 1911, which itself restricts the ability the Lords to block a bill to two years.

So, if the Act of Parliament to ban hunting is overturned on the grounds that it is invalid, where does that leave other acts such as:

The 1991 War Crimes Act, which allowed Nazi war criminals living in the UK to be prosecuted for deeds done outside the UK and before the act was passed. Would these men thus have their convictions for many horrific crimes overturned?

The European Parliamentary Elections Act 1999. Would the 1999 and 2004 Euro-elections thus be rendered invalid?

The 2000 Sexual Offences Amendment Act, which reduced from 18 to 16 the age of homosexual consent. Would homosexual acts between 2000 and 2005 involving a 16 or 17 year old, become retrospectively criminal, as a result?

What we need is a law that states its perfectly legal to set a bunch of crazy dogs after fox hunters and not allow them any aid when they're bleeding to death slowly :)

It could get very messy indeed. All because some selfish sods want to go and chase foxes.

If as is most likely the countryside alliance do appeal then the goverment have said they still expect to win .
I imagine if the appeal was to be sucessful then it would open up a right can of worms, and im sure the goverment have thought about this.
At the end of the day those who ingage in this type of activity will have to obey the law or face the consequences, end of story.
