I've waited 2 months for the FREE Walker's Crisps pedometer to arrive and, within 3 days it's 'crackered'.
Having mentioned this to friends / family etc,
I find that everyone else who got one had it fail in the first week!
What a crock!
Did anyone else get one; is it still working accurately?

- You get what you pay for I expect. Sheesh:rolleyes:

Inform Walkers. They'll be livid with their supplier for 'disappointing' their customers. The world of snacks is cutthroat! I've just got out of 'chips' (as the Americans insist on calling them)

Edit: I've hyperlinked them this thread - so complain away!

Mine still works but its clocked up 21 steps sitting on my windowsill.

Mine only works part of the time! Having said that I had noticed that it wasn't terribly accurate straight away. I find mine works better when I wear trousers then when I wear a skirt, but of course that won't apply to everyone!:D

My sister clocked up 10 steps having a sit down on the loo :hihi: my eldest also has one, his is pants too. It makes a funny rattling noise now and only registers steps if you jump around like an elephant :loopy:

Our Pedometer was here pretty much on time. However you do need to be on a pogo stick for it to work.
Or strap it to your head like this > :headbang:

We've had 3 of them and all 3 worked rubbish from the start and started giving crazy numbers and then kippered it... biggest piece's of poo I've ever seen...

Walkers have wasted SO much money on these things its unreal... even if they got them for free themselves it was a waste of money posting them to people!

My mate said the only way to make his register, was to sellotape it to his hand when he was Trumpet Polishing

We've got one.

But honestly, I can't understand how anyone can complain about freebies.

Me neither sam!? . . Why not just get up and walk around the house or garden etc . . and count your steps. It's much easier then waiting for a cr*ppy little machine to pop through the post before you can start walking!!!!:gag:

Apart from the disappointment Sam, there's the environmental issues for one...
They must have produced thousands of these and, if like all of us everyone else's had conked after a few days all these are going to end up as landfill along with the jiffy bags that they came in.. What a waste of time, money, effort, production, postage, blah blah.

 see me point?

Good idea Les - why didn't I think of that when I'm walking the six miles to/from work/home?
I was interested in how many of the recommended 10,000 steps I was achieving.
Which is what they were using to market the product.

If the pedometer is such a serious issue, theres always the gym mate.:|

That sounds like a perfect dish.

I can just see Keith Floyd wobbling about drinking red wine and talking us through the preparation and cooking of Flaming Goat.

Cheers for the suggestion Les!

But the issue was the 'F R E E' bit, not the extortionate Gym charges :o
I am a Yorkshireman afterall! :D

I ordered one months ago and it hasn't arrived. i gave in and bought one in a Lloyds Pharmacy when they were on offer for £2.49 a few weeks ago. I'm totally addicted to it and send friends annoying texts like "been into town today, 4598 steps, 3.01km, 214 calories burned".

I'm sure the novelty will wear off sooner or later

It's not easy totalling 10,000 steps a day though, like you're recommended to do. Not even especially because I'm lazy and ill and unfit (well, a bit of all 3), but purely because you'd have to devote several hours daily to it I reckon. Not many people have the time or opportunity to do that.

I got mine today, i'd forgotten i'd even applied for one :)
I've tested it walking round the garden, its ok, only seemed to recognise if i took long strides though.

The info leaflet says it may not be as affective on steep or uneven surfaces - seems there's not much point wearing it for the walk to work then - up all those hills lol

I had a pedometer and I found it to be totally unaccurate. I counted my steps and then looked at the pedometer and it had only registered half of them. What a waste of time.

I also got one of these through the post. my mate ordered it without telling me and i got it a few days later. i tested it and half the steps i walk arnt counted. I agree with the fact that a lot of time, money and effort has been wasted on these things. Why wernt they tested before their distribution?
