Do you also have any beauty/make-up tips?

Boots no 7 self tan mask. You put it on your face and its see through and you leave it on for a bit then peel off the see through mask which is really satisfying like picking dry glue off yourself and youre left with a VERY slightly more tanned face but its very subtle just makes you look a bit healthier.

Well, I couldn't possibly reveal all my, urm, secrets, but I'm not sure I could get through a day without Clinique! Could also get seriously into Dermologica stuff if it weren't so darn expensive...
Nice to have a shallow, girly topic on here, have noticed lots of sports topics recently that I'm afraid just go right over my head!

Clinique is my saviour as well!

Ummmm, and vaseline. Works wonders on dry lips :-)

I always feel that beauty comes from within. I always like to treat myself to a Barnsley Cocktail to bring out the man in me.

A half of Guinness with a pickled onion floating on top.

It makes me feel so....

I love Lancome... Their Hydra Moisturiser is lovely and leaves my skin as soft as a babies bottom. Oooh, and the foundation which is really light and blends in to your skin tone. Not cheap, but great.

Also, I love Benefits High Beam to make me look all sparkly on a night out. :D

I love the Body shop for make up and beauty things... I had one of their lip palletes for ages and loved it, until I left it in my jeans pocket one day and hot washed it  Their lip balms are gorgeous too, horribly expensive for what they are but they do make your lips feel lovely and soft. Revlon for nail varnish - the hot pink is gorgeous and it seems to last forever without chipping! :D

I agree, their stuff is lovely..worth every penny. I like Clarins best though (try their beauty flash balm..) and buy it when there's a special offer. Buy two products and get loads of lovely little freebies!

TracieJC...go treat yourself some new lip balm. May sound a bit sad but I find these sorts of things do wonders for the soul!

lol :) You must have read my mind... I'm at the work at the moment just finishing a very, very tedious experiment on one of the microscopes and thinking to myself... maybe I'll wander down into town after this... see what lip balms the body shop has to offer :P

Ditto Tracie...I'm also meant to be doing some work - mine doesnt sound as exciting as yours though..). My incentive is the sooner I'm done, sooner I can go out. Didnt think I was such 'girl' but I find shoes have the similar effect but they generally cost more than lip balm! Hope you treat yourself later.

For me, Sisley make the best skin care products - expensive, but so worth it.

I've recently discovered Urban Decay's lip glosses and eyeshadows - fantastic colours, and really long-wearing. As for foundation, Prescriptives just can't be beaten.

I have very sensitive skin, and find I can't use certain brands (Lancome for example) or my skin reacts badly. So far, I've been fine with the above

PS Love Benefit products as well!! Very girlie!! :)

There are some horrible lip balms out there that make your lips worse. I love Gail Hayman Lip Lift, really makes your lips so soft, better than lip balms on the market.

No, for proper lip balm use Carmex (the one with bright yellow lid in Boots).

Not ideal if you're looking for a good night out though...as its got Camphor and Menthol in it and can make your lips smell a bit!

Philosophy's Lip Balms are also very good and moisturising - and taste absolutely heavenly! So beware - they can become addictive! :P

where do I start?:help:

Clinique foundation
Lancome mascara
MAC lipgloss
Benefit high beam
My favourite products are MAC eyeshadows including the pigments.
For me its all in the eyes!!

As for tips, I used to watch a make up artist on youtube called "Lauren aka Pancea".
I got most of my techniques from her and everyone does comment on how well my make-up looks.

I agree Vaseline has a thousand and one uses, plus a good nights sleep.
Keep out of the sun don't smoke and don't drink and you will have a lovely complexion which is a womans best asset.

Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream for lip gloss, hair tamer, highlighter and allsorts in general. Chanel foundation (nights out), Maybelline mascara, Ruby & Millie cheek stain and a few of my friends all swear by the Bobby Brown Shimmer Brick but I've resisted buying one as yet because they're £42!!

At the minute it's oil cleansing (grape seed or olive) and Neil's Yard moisturiser but will probably change to a different one soon if anyone has any recommendations???

Hmmm

I love the avon spectralash mascara because I like the more dramatic look for night but the less dramatic look for day.

Vasaline as mentioned is amazing its good to put on your nose overnight if you have cold because it gets rid of the red dry nose for the next day lol

I had another one but I've forgot it, I'll post it in a bit when I remember

That's a really good tip and it does work. I use it in the daytime as well, just on the bit of the nose that always gets crusty from constant nose-blowing. It's much better than moisturiser because it gives a protective covering that doesn't just rub straight off every time you use a tissue. It's really useful for me as I get hayfever quite often.

BTW, loving this girly thread, definitely worth the 5 year resurrection. :)

Speaking of oil cleansers - I swear by Burts Bees Orange Essence cleanser.
Also a big fan of Benefit, especially Bad Gal Lash mascara. Love Urban decay eye shadows and Max Factors retractable eye pencil. I like Ruby and Millie, their packaging is usually really innovative and easy to use.

I'd also recommend Lauren Lukes make up videos on YouTube (Panacea81).. she's so down to earth :D

My other one was that foundation always has to be maybelline mouse one.

Also those pen things for nail polish correction are great. I struggle to paint my own nails on my right hand but I can touch them up with that and make the lines round my cuticals dead neat. Mines an AVON one but I recon you can get them from other places as well they are prob all the same

Christian Dior foundation is great but quite expensive.

I cannot live without:
Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour cream is the stuff of the gods, worth every penny.

Urban Decay eyeshadows are brilliant for the pigmentation and range of colours and Loreal Double Extension mascara in carbon black for super long and dark lashes.

Mac and Barry M lipsticks in hot pink.

Live 00a hair bleach in absolute platinum, it burns my head but i dont care, it gives me the whitest hair i can get.

The only think I really swear on is Rimmel bronzer. It's quite cheap (compared to Mac, Benefit etc) but I am so pale at the minute so it is definately useful as I don't really like sunbeds.

Ohh and the other one is That Gal by Benefit, its a cheek tinter and when I go out it makes my skin glow.

I recently discovered this Barry M stuff that you brush on your eyelashes after putting on mascara and it leaves sparkles on - it's lovely.

Whilst were on a girly topic - i'm after a mascara that will make my eyelashes look huge on a night out. Any ideas?

For body - Just about anything by Soap and Glory, their stuff is amazing and smells completely gorgeous.

For face - Olay, their range of face and eye creams is great.

Make-up - Bene-tint for flushing the cheeks and staining the lips, touche eclat for covering and brightening, and just discovered maybelline falsh lash effect mascara and absolutely love love love it, it doubles the length and volume in about 2 strokes, did I mention I love it.

Loreal Double Extention is the best mascara i've tried, you put the white mascara on first, then the colour. If you layer up the primer you can get amazing volume and it lasts well. The newest one has a serum inside that apparently strengthens your eyelashes, can't say i've noticed a difference but i'm a sucker for eyelash related gimmick.

Re: hair bleach. It doesn't burn, but it isnt the most comfortable feeling in the world and the smell is horriffic. But it like the result, so I can tolerate it!

YSL Touche Eclat
YSL Faux Cils Mascara
Original Chapstick
Palmers Cocoa butter body lotion
St Ives body lotion for dry skin
Simple wipes for removing make-up
Colgate whitening toothpaste

That's the basic stuff I use every day that I know is very good.

Optional things I like:

Body shop and Rimmel lip stuff. I've just got back into having something on my lips. I just hate having to re-apply it

I do like the Lush stuff, but it's quite expensive and it seems more of a treat thing than an everyday thing.

Things I haven't got on with:

Eight hour cream (it just makes things shiny ), Dove body wash (dries things out), Sanctuary products (weird), just about every bit of make-up I've bought WITHOUT TRYING IT ON FIRST.

Don't really like using foundation, blusher, or any face cream and haven't done so for a long time. My skin seems to look after itself fine left to its own devices.

Toothpaste for spots (not very often. Thank God I'm not a teenager :P)

Gloves when washing up and hand cream about sixteen times a day.

I'm struggling with my nails at the moment. I love them as short as possible and minimal looking, and a bit of clear nail varnish is the most I want on them. But it seems to come off too easily. Any ideas?

For volume, always dry hair at the roots first and then blast with cold air before letting it back down.
I used to do hairdressing and this is what i was taught. "Always take care of the roots and the ends, and the mid-length will take care of itself."
Always worked for me.:)

What brand of polish are you using. If its a cheaper one you might be better to spend a bit more and that should last longer. I think with polish you get what you pay for really.

with great difficulty and lots of patience!:hihi:
Worth it in the end though :)

I'm going to buy some now its got to be do able as there seems to be only me in the world that can't do them

Hmmm... I blow dry mine upside down, which helps give it volume. I love Herbal Essences conditioners and Elnette hairspray.

I love elnette hair spray

Yay that hairspray seems to be doing the trick! I made myself a little quiff at the front this morning and although it hasn't lasted wind, sun, and running up and down stairs, my hair still has a lot more volume than usual. Thanks :)

As this seems the appropriate thread, can I just say I am in love with this dress :love:

A tip to make false lashes easier to wear and use is before applying them bend them in and out also wait 30 sec for the lash glue to go tacky before applying hope this helps x

I love my Borjois lip gloss and blusher. When it comes to skin care, I use soap but once a week I use home made face masks/scrubs. Olive oil and lemon is fantastic! I also use honey and suger sometimes..leaves the skin looking fresh and glowy :)

if you have greasy hair lush do a "big shampoo" which is a sea salt one smells gorgeous and makes your hair soft and shiny. Its great.

So it is! :) Seems to last a lot longer than the stuff I was using. I know I use my hands a lot but touching up every day was getting ridiculous. Expensive but I think it'll be worth it.

Blue nail varnish....hmmmm....... something I'd love on other people but probably not on myself ;) The clear stuff is the most I can manage. I have been tempted by red sometimes but I KNOW I'll just chip it and then forget to touch it up.

What's the rest of the Barry M stuff like?

The dazzle dust is really pretty and comes in loads of colours. It's a bit much for me because I prefer to look more natural so I very rarely bother with eyeshadow, but my two younger sisters absolutely love it.
