Right you have endless of money in your back pocket and you can have any Porsche or Ferrari, which one would you have? Personally I think both cars are amazing but I think the Ferrari wins by a few centimetres

Not really into cars are you. ;)

Personally, I'd prefer a Jaguar XJ220.

Your not really into cars? Come on I said a Porsche or Ferrari, everyone loves them. I didn't say a Skoda (no offence to anyone with a Skoda out there)

Porsche - a masterpiece of precise engineering, which I love and someday hope to own; Ferrari - a doze of pure passion for autos. Any day I would choose a Lamborghini over both of the above but since that isn’t on the list id take a Ferrari, it just has that extra spice over Porsche.

Without a doubt a Ferrari - no need for thought.

Wonderful cars in every respect.

Personally, I'd probably have an Enzo - in Ferrari red of course (drools)

No doubt they are probably both amazing vehicles, but with my endless cash it would have to be Aston Martin.

Porche or Ferrari?
which models? theres enough of them, for a start the 911 has been released so many times, with so many different engine types, the body has changed quite a few times and so many unique paint jobs... and thats just one model of car :P

anyways... if it's any model by either of those then it'd be a Ferrari F50 for sporty goodness or a Ferrari 456 for a "family" car ;)
although I do love the old skool Porche 911's... not too keen on the new ones and especially not fond of the Boxter, the Boxter seems to be EVERYWHERE lately along with the Audi TT...

Audi TT or Porche Boxter = midlife crisis cures? lol

A Ferrari - that silver Ferrari emblem (a horse? a stallion?) on the rear is the equivalent of having two fingers stuck up at you when you've just been overtaken before a blind hairpin bend somewhere in Derbyshire. Two seconds before a cement lorry comes tearing round the corner.

Grrrrrr.

Yes yes yes! Possibly the best car ever made! Have wanted one since I was about 8 although I've heard they are selling for about 500 thousand nowadays so doubt I will ever have one!

Would settle for an Aston Martin DB9 ;-)

Probably due to the 911 Turbo. Nutter car with really unruly handling in its early incarnations.
Modern Porsches are much better and I would go with one just for reliabilty and running costs.
If I just had the choice of a car for the day then a Ferrari it would be, probably an F355 for me.

Porsche for me everytime. Something about them.

*For this argument, I shall dismiss the Enzo and the Carrera GT, as normal rules do not apply to Hypercars such as these*

Both these brands have huge stigma attached to them.
When was the last time you let a 911 out of a side road?
In my opinion, they out BMW BMW in the arrogance stakes.

Porsche make absolutely fantastic cars by all reports, but they all look the same.
The fact that the top 911s share such a similar front end to the everyman Boxster dilutes the whole Porsche image for me.
You see one on the road and it just looks like any old Porka.
I get so bored with new Porsche releases. They have an entire model range of cars that are seperated by minor details.

This is about the only Porsche of recent years that rubs my rhubarb:
http://www.stuttgart9.co.uk/images/spa270504/09.jpg

I do, however, have a real soft spot for what I believe to be one of the most beautiful cars ever produced - the Porsche 928:
http://www.928.org.uk/images/928gt89sg01.jpg

Ferrari drivers, in this resentful country, are branded t**ts the second their cars hit the road. If I see a Ferrari I instantly thing "footballer" or "Peter Stringfellow". Doesnt stop me staring though, as they are wonderful cars.

Nothing worse than a cheap Ferrari either - when someone has gone out and bought an old, unpopular model just so they can say "I drive a Ferrari". Ugh.

So, had I come into Millions and I'm stuck between the two brands, I'll plump for the Porsche pictured above, in white. And yes, I'd want the seemingly awful stickers down the side. :)
Either that or I'd scour the earth for the best condition 928 money could buy.

If hypercars are to be included in the argument, then the only two vehicles that matter are the Carrera GT and the Enzo.

So. Carrera GT please :)

Then I'd sell it and buy a Zonda.

The GT3 is a fabulous car, but it is so uncomfortable for day to day use that you would get very fed up with it very quickly. That's why you see so many Carrera's - you can just get in them and drive it every day, and still have 99% of the fun that a GT3 gives whilst having a few creature comforts.

Ferrari's are great cars, but they are so darned unreliable they remain a weekend car for all but the hardcore. They aren't actually a any faster in the real world either.

So remembering that most driving is done around town, and the motorway... for every day use / fun, it has to be the Porsche 911.

I'd rather not take either.

But a DB9, or maybe one of the Noble's... Or maybe a TVR, or the new McLaren Mercedes....

Hmmm, so many choices, so few millions in my bank account.

A porsche or a ferrari, its gotta be a porsche in sheffield.

Ferrari is to OTT for sheffield and youd probably have probs with the speed bumps.

I like the DB7 more though.

sod them both- its gotta be an aston martin or a noble- or even one of the new mercedes.

infact- get a lotus excige- like an elise but with a celica engine, under a tonne in weight and will out-manouver anything else on the road.

jackthedog
01-02-2005, 13:27
Well if we're allowed to sod them both, I'll take both a TVR Cerbera and an Overfinch 630R for the same cost...

The TVR would kill me after about a week, so much fun to be had there, and I'd love to scare the boy racers with the Overfinch :D

Love that rumble... :)

With you on that, if the bus was a split screen camper.

Then a TVR Chimera and a couple of motorcycles for days off :)

I wouldn't want a Porsche or Ferrari at all. If I parked it outside my house, some little scroat would put a key down it.

I like venger's idea about a camper, and a motorcyle. Instead.
I used to have a Ford Galaxy, now that was an entertaining vehicle. It handled as good as a saloon car, had the capacity of a van, and you could put the seats right at the back and get your passengers to feel like they're in a limo.

I'd agree with the Excige / Elise argument. Its about the only modern car with the characteristics to replace my 205 gti 1.9...although its not as pracitcal.

Surely logic dictates that if you can afford a 100 grand car, far from parking it on the street, you'd have the equivalent house to go with it, complete with 3-4 car heated garage.

Having driven (but not owned, I hasten to add) various models of both of these cars, I can vouch for the fact that owning any of them would be a nerve-racking experience. Not only would you be scared stiff of pranging them, but they are almost impossible to use in an everyday manner. Unless money was absolutely not an issue in your life, that is.

Paranoia runs riot at the very thought of parking such a car while you go shopping, or take in a movie. I had to deliver a 911 to a client a few years ago and thought I'd stop off at mate's house to impress him. The whole time I was there I was on tenterhooks thinking the car had been stolen, damaged, keyed, or worse.

In fact, I know of someone who bought a s/h Ferrari and after a few months he was a bag of nerves worrying about damaging it. He ended up selling it and getting a Range Rover instead.
