Who do i contact ?

I have an Aunt who is in her early 70's, she has poor mobility and finds it difficult to manage chores in the house/garden any idea's who i can contact

What exactly does she find really difficult? Just on a normal day.

Erm she is unable to bend low or stretch so she finds house old chores very difficult. Her mobility is deteroating and she struggles putting shoes on n stuff. She can manage cooking her own meals n stuff, i guess shopping is becoming more and more difficult.

i'm not sure what departement of social services to contact.

you need to contact the Access Team of social services and that is your first point of contact, they will take your details and then a worker will ring you back. another quicker way is for you to arrange to see her G.P with her consent and ask them to make a referal to social services for help. Don't be put off if you don't seem to get anywhere the first time keep up the pressure.

the only downside is that often elderly people like things done thier way and it is often the case that due to time constraints the support they get is not quite what they want.

She might find shopping easier if she used SCT's Dial-a-Bus Service. This service picks you up from your door and takes you to the supermarket, then takes you home again. The drivers are very helpful, too.

she could also possibly make arrangements to use shopmobility's scooter and wheelchair hire scheme:- the dial a bus can drop her off near at least two of the outlets (dial a bus serves markets and Crystal Peaks for certain), and the scooter or wheelchair (if she has an escort) will make life much easier.
