View Full Version : Picture framers?
fabulous_girl 12-11-2007, 12:08 My boyfriend did art A-level back at school and he still has his gorgeous paintings. i want to get them framed for him for xmas but i want to do it fairly cheap so i can afford to buy him other stuff. I had hoped that wilkinsons would serve me well but the awkward sod has made them really odd sizes, so i think i'm going to have to have them custom made.
Anywhere in sheffield (city cente) that do custom frames fairly cheaply? I can only think of one framers at the moment at the Moor but i'd like to have some options so i can compare prices.
shakermaker 12-11-2007, 12:09 there's one on cambridge street also, but the one at the bottom of the moor is cheaper
blondie-blue 12-11-2007, 12:23 there's one on chesterfield road...
blondie-blue 12-11-2007, 12:25 this might be useful....

mr chris 12-11-2007, 13:13 I'd definitely recommend the framers at the bottom of the Moor. Their prices seem fair and the quality is top notch... and to be honest, doing stuff like this for a job, I'd take quality over saving a couple of quid any day!
ReginaldD 12-11-2007, 13:34 The one at the bottom of the Moor in the bit near Thorntons, Sharps and the Post Office is definetly the best. They can give you a better price as they don't have as big rent chrges as Fast Frame, the one near Coles. Also they are a family run business, who are all very nice.
I ordered a huge Lance Armstrong poster from the States last year, I asked my mum and dad to get it framed for my birthday so I could have it in my room. In Fast Frame I was quoted £80 at the bottom of the Moor £60, I got it done there and they did a great job.
purdyamos 12-11-2007, 15:53 I also recommend Framework Gallery at the bottom of the Moor. They'd also be endorsed by the majority of artists at art shows I've been involved in - almost everyone's carried their works in Framework Gallery bags. They are the best. :)

Womerry2 12-11-2007, 16:09 I usually go to The Framery on Sharrowvale Road. They take as much time as is needed to find the perfect match of picture and frame, and they make up the frames to a very high standard. I've seen them mentioned in the Sheffield Open programmes (when you can visit artists in their studios or homes to buy their work).
I also use the framery on Sharrowvale Road - just taken 3 pictures in and they spent ages trying to find the best mount and frames. Prices were very reasonable too.
sandorasbox 12-11-2007, 19:53 If you dont want to go to town centre and live near woodseats INFRAME IS VERY GOOD you can find them opposite the BIG TREE PUB
pippadoll 12-11-2007, 21:37 The Framery on Sharrowmale Road are great; go along Hickmott Road from Ecc Rd.
Good selection and he has a good eye for framing; reasonalbly priced too.
cazziecrisp 12-11-2007, 22:04 Theres a framer at attercliffe very cheap.
I got a frame for my large picture done for £9.50 including glass
its in the old Banners building but entrance is on the side road

hya theres a good one down the cliff next to where banners is well used to be xx its really small and looks like its a jumble sale outside but they are quite good and not to overpriced either
manzmanz 13-11-2007, 10:36 I'd recommend the Framework Gallery too - at the bottom of the moor.
See their website - http://www.theframeworkgallery.co.uk/
fabulous_girl 13-11-2007, 10:42 cool, i'll pop down at lunch. so if anyone sees a girl tottering around at lunchtime on the moor with some rolled up tatty paper....you'll know its me
there's one on cambridge street also, but the one at the bottom of the moor is cheaper
The Cambridge Street one is better though IMO.
fabulous_girl 13-11-2007, 13:14 thanks guys, i got it sorted, took them to the one at the bottom of the moor. i got a price of £60 which was more than i initially wanted to pay but way better than the £108 quoted at fastframe.
