Windsor 18-11-2007, 23:29 Has no-one done this kind of thing here?? Deebles 18-11-2007, 23:32 Don't think there is one in or around Sheffield! Nazo 19-11-2007, 07:08 Isn't there one up at Norton? It's been a good few years since I learned to drive so it may well have closed but there was a driver training centre up there where kids can have a go before they're ready to go on the roads and I think there was a skid pan there. Lucy-Lastic 19-11-2007, 09:52 I went to one in York last year - it was at the Elvington Airfield I think. It was brilliant - they used slippy tyres and water instead of the other way:D slickwitch 19-11-2007, 09:55 There are some fantastic Skidders in Agent Orange's pants Windsor 19-11-2007, 11:46 Isn't there one up at Norton? Thanks Nazo, I believe the driver TC at Norton has closed unfortunately. They used to have a pan too. Cheers According to this site (http://www.skidpan.net/booking.htm), there are skid pans at Castle Donington, Derbyshire, Elvington, North Yorkshire and Manchester City Stadium, Greater Manchester. I'm guessing that the Derbyshire one is the nearest. Paddy 28-11-2010, 05:13 Any large outdoor car park at the moment. slick rick73 28-11-2010, 05:52 we saw some lads in tesco car park on abbeydale road using it as a skid pan. they crashed it into a bollard. we did laugh. ChrisT70 28-11-2010, 15:22 manby showground if you google it, they have a driver training centre, with skid control cars. there is no proper skid pan at elvington airfield tho, we use it regularly for trackdays. rockingham have a proper basalt tile facility with water jets which is superb, have done that course but its about £180. companies sometimes use cars with grip adjustable ride height frames bolted to them to simulate loss of grip, usually on empty airfields. |
