Elvis Costello. Though I'll admit that not everyone has the sophisticated receptor range required to appreciate his tonal qualities :D .

Jeff Lynne?

He's a great bloke, songwriter, producer and musician but one thing he is not is a great vocalist. He has a very limited voice. And obviously spent a great deal of time in the studio making a great recording of his vocal performance to make up for it.

Before he started having health problems, Meat Loaf had a great voice IMO.. The poor bloke just works too hard it seems, and has collapsed on stage more than once from knackeredness and other health issues.

You have made me very happy with your inclusion of the Pendergrass.

I'd go for the 'Evil Elvis' Glenn Danzig. He has a great voice. I also think Ray Lamontagne has a great voice. Then there were all those superb Motown singers.

All the names suggested so far are mere pygmies in comparison to the Godlike Genius that is Scott Walker.

Odd as it might sound, I prefer to hear him punching a side of pork rather than singing.

You probably wouldn't class them as "great" vocalist but I love the following:
Brett Anderson
James Dean Bradfield
Damon Albarn
Kelly Jones
David McAlmont
Rufus Wainwright
Jason Lytle
Ben Folds
Mark Coyne
Tim DeLaughter

I'd class a number of those as "great", definitely.

I forgot Brett Anderson - I should add him to my list.

And Kelly Jones does have a fabulously dirty rock n roll voice - although his material can let him down

Al Green, Donny Hathaway, Tim Buckley or Jeff Buckley.

I second various people for Desmond Dekker, Sinatra, Mark Lanegan, Damien Rice and Chaz (but no way Dave!).

Can’t be doing with Elvis Costello and his one-speed vibrato, John Lennon who inherently sounds like he was recorded down a telephone or Freddie Mercury who was born without a soul. Sorry.

Quick vote for Van Morrison - the live album "Too Late To Stop Now" - soul, jazz, rythm and blues, skat singing...

Turn it up!!!
