Pop3 Server Not Responding?

I can send test emails to myself but they don't download back to me.

I know they are reaching me because my website cpanel allows me to view the messages on the server.

I have used Outlook 2003, Outlook Express and Thunderbird. All send and say receive has completed without any error messages.

The messages are still on the mail server though.

I have tried various pop settings:-

mysite.co.uk
www.mysite.co.uk
mail.mysite.co.uk
mail@mysite.co.uk

I use the exact same user name and password that I use to log in to my cpanel.

I've also contact my host Compila.com but they are unable to find any errors.

Just wondered if anyone had experienced this before and to what the solution might be?

Thanks in advance.

Is this a newly set up e-mail account on your PC?
I.e have you ever recieved any incoming e-mail with this account?

It sounds to me as if your incoming settings need adjusting.
It could also be due to your firewall settings and Antivirus e-mail scanning
Which Firewall and antivirus are you using?

Kingmaker Hi,

I've never used this email address before, although I've used the website for about 3 years.

I'll give it a try with AVG and Zonealarm turned off next.Cheers.

Right then - problem solved.

I'd set up a trap for spam but hadn't set it right, so everything was aiming for spam@mysite.co.uk when in fact this email address hadn't been created, so everything was being received but just going around stuck in a loop. Doh!
