I'm thinking of getting a polytunnel for my garden. Has anyone any experience as to how they compare with a greenhouse and how well do they stand up to the weather?

We've had a little one for a year or so now. They are good, just make sure they are put up well and in a more sheltered spot, away from winds. I think the lesson we learnt as well is to make sure there is SOME ventialtion or stuff rots!

I'm sure there are more experienced people on here who can advise....

I personally dont, but at the same time my dad got his greenhouse, his friend over the road bought a polytunnel. He did have good results with growing stuff, but it needed more polythene and some repairs after a couple of years. He no longer has it. 20 years on my dads greenhouse is still going and looks great.

I used to have a greenhouse too and I loved it. I now make do with mini greenhouses as I cant have a greenhouse ATM. Obviously the latter are cheaper, they are OK, but dont last as long and dont stand up to the weather as well as a greenhouse. The greenhouse was easier to clean and ventilate too.

We have one. I have planted some overwintering peas to try - but it comes in very useful for getting out of the rain !!

we have a polly tunnel and had it 2 years with good results, after 2 years litty holes appeared in the plastic roof and then the heavy snow brought it to the ground. we enjoyed it so much that we have replaced it with another pollytunnel but in the long run green houses are best as they last longer but are much more expensive. i will get a proper one one day
