I'm a big fan of cloud pictures, have lots myself.

You seem to be using the 'rule' of thirds for composition, especially the partial eclipse pic, which shows that you have an eye for framing a scene

Have you experimented much with cropping your pictures? I'm thinking particularly of the edinburgh picture and the poly bag in the foreground. Cropping also lets you straighten up horizons and verticals if you had your camera at a slight angle.

You look like you are using a digicam. Depending on which one it is, you might like to try the autobracketing feature, which takes 3 pics instead of one. The first is underexposed, the second is normally exposed and the thrid is overexposed.

Again, I'm thinking of the Edinburgh pic, where the sky is quite badly burnt out.

On the whole I'd say they're really good. The angel pic is excellent, as the sky and the foreground are both well exposed - so nice on on moving round until the angel obscured the sun.

The cat pic could really be improved if you had not cut the cat's tail off...when photographing a standalone 'thing' rather than a detail of it or a texture piece or something, try to capture all of your objective in the frame with a margin to spare, as this will give you the opportunity to rotate the picture and crop it, as well as making sure the viewer can see a whole object.

And if you are shooting on 35mm, and you get your composition right first time, then you can enjoy the kudos of getting a full frame print (the pinnacle of photographical composition, no cropping required!)

The partial eclipse pic is tops.

Not sure what the cops pic is about. If it had been me I might have gone for more of a 'car' shot, like taking a low shot up from the front quarter or accross the bonnet or something, but its an NYPD badge detail on a car, no question.

Could say more, but there are much better photographers than me on this forum...

Personally I'd say the exposure and the framing are the things to play around with. Exposure is far more important with digital than negative film.

Personally, I would have considered the white-out on the Edinburgh to have added to the effect, being able to see the sky might have lessened the impact. I saw the white-out on the kitten as more of a distraction. You can either try autobracketing, or check to see if you have an exposure lock button :)

As for framing, I'd agree that cutting the plastic bag on Edinburgh and perhaps the blue thing on the graveyard would have helped. Now, had there been more rubbish on that street, you might have wanted it in to create a squalid look ;)

Best thing really is to play around. Try to do as much in-camera as possible as these days there can be a temptation to do too much afterwards. Having said that, playing with the cropping / curves on the computer can be very educational and help get ideas for future piccies.

Anyway, well done and I look forwards to seeing the next lot :)
