Does anyone live on the new Norfolk Park development?
(I've read a previous SF discussion but it was reduced to tittle tattle and point scoring so I need a serious thread to get answers!!)
I'm wanting to settle down upon graduation, have a proper little home instead of somewhere shared/small and poky! Norfolk Park seems within the budget, is spacious for a couple to live together without being in eachothers pockets, has parking and a balcony and isnt too far away from town!
BF and I have driven there on various occasions as I'm concerned I'd feel threatened at night with gangs etc... However on the occasions which we have been around theres been no sign whatsoever.
Can anyone offer any hints or experiences?
Cheers!

Sorry I can't help - I've been offered a house on the 'green homes' development on the corner of park grange road and guildford avenue and would like to know what people think of the area. My main criteria being is there a decent pub within walking distance? It doesn't have to be anything special, just friendly. I wouldn't want to be hopping on the tram to town constantly. Oh and second criteria, would I feel safe getting a pint of milk after dark! I think these are important measures of a nice place to live!
I think the only thing to do is drive/walk around the area and make up your own minds. Every one has differing ideas of what makes a good or bad place to live.

There's no decent pub nearby and at the moment nearest place to get a pint of milk after dark is the spar garage on city road. Hope this helps:)

I live there... It's mainly OK - a few chavvy kids around now and again espec in school holidays and there are no shops close by but apart from that it is sound and only 10 minutes to town on the tram.
We seriously considered buying a house there and spent a lot of time looking around the area. We didn't see any trouble, but we were slightly put off by the 2 nearby council estates. They are ever improving but council estates do seem to always have more than their fair share of trouble. We lived in an ex-council house for 2 years and saw more trouble than anywhere we had lived before.
The main reason we didn't buy one though is that the prices seemed to shoot up much quicker than other areas. Some of the new ones went from 130 to 160 in a few months. Due to the area and size of the houses they didn't seem to offer good value for money any more.
I can't find it now but someone posted a link to a survey they had done when buying a house in the first section of the development. It came back with a lot problems that you shouldn't really get with a new house. It suggested the overall build quality wasn't too good.
We were told at the time that they would be knocking the old shops down that had the flats above them and building new shops. I don't know whether this has started yet but it hadn't last time I drove by.
