When I finally pass my driving test, I'm hoping to get a Renault Clio, what do you think of it? :-)

I think they're decent cars, I'm learning in one so it's the first car I ever drove on the road (the other being a Vauxhall Corsa).

Meant to be a good first car...

We just had one for a week as a 'courtesy car' and were quite impressed with it. It was the 1200 3-door version and I thought it would be a bit under-powered for Sheffield, but it coped very well unless we got baulked on a hill, in which case you have to drop into first and wind it up through the gears to get your speed back.

Comfortable and nippy enough, with a good fifth gear ratio - gearbox layout is typically quirky. Heater was a bit slow for icy mornings.

I had one as a hire car for 3 weeks when mine got pinched. Quite a decent little car. I had the 1500 diesel which sounds like an underpowered piece of pap, but it coped admirably with Rutland Road, Hagg Hill and Long Lane (Loxley) with the wife and kids so it can't be that bad!

Oh yes, and £25 got me nearly 400 miles, and considering most of my driving is rush hour traffic light hopping with lots of crawling and idling, thats not too bad at all (approx. 50mpg).

I test drove a new one a few months back and didnt like how it drive, which is a shame as its a good looking car.

I'd prefer a Fiesta (excellent drive) or a Corsa personally.

I've had a corsa, a clio, a polo, and at the mo' I have a black peugeot 206 HDi... and wouldn't trade it for anything.

At 2L, it may be a diesel, but it's a nippy little kitty. And, a full tank, for around £40, will take me over 400 miles.
