Hi
We're in the process of buying a house in Lodge Moor area and a question of radon gas has been brought up in a survey. Has anyone any knowledge of radon and has it affected anyones house purchase etc. Do new houses in the area have to be protected from the gas ?

Regards

Col S

I think www.upmystreet.com has details of such things in an area.

I remember this from when I used to live in the area. Means the stones are from the Peaks. Common problem especially around the Hathersage area. Shouldn't have any real effect on you unless you start drilling from inside into the stonework. Saying that, you can have the house treated, but make sure you have the cost incorporated into the agreed price. Only a keen seller likely to agree though.

all of cornwall is built on radon, and its extremly high count in the air as well, and they have no problem ;)
