View Full Version : Haunted House In Sheffield All Night Vigil
Next weekend i am spending all night in a haunted house in Sheffield using night vision video cameras among other equipment we have...
The house has been empty for awhile after the people who lived there refused to live there anymore due to the noises heard within the house..
I will give a full report next sunday night on what happened...
Anyone else know of a house or building i can investigate or need help with your house that might be haunted?
e-mail me for details on the Vigil or anything else hauntedrealm@hotmail.co.uk
I would love to be there with you Jon, but these days I cannot stay up all night as I get so completely exhausted, never seen a ghost myself and I have an open mind on the subject but I would not say there aren't any.
billyblade 06-09-2003, 09:06 Having worked all over the country as a contractor and in many different types of building I reckon Rotherham museum in Clifton park takes some beating for spookiness and the other one was Eccleshall library which had a workshop upstairs for restoring paintings. Me and my workmate at the time definately heard someone whistling at the side of us! I think its been demolished now though..shame

Would love to be there with you, Jon, but fortunately(oops) I cannot get there in time.:(
DaBouncer 06-09-2003, 14:56 I too would like to spend the night in a haunted house with all the right equipment and for the very reason... to see if anything can be found.
I spent a weekend in a haunted windmill (converted into a house) once... not realising it was meant to be haunted till I got home!

Why dya say that Moon?
I used to live in a house near Chapeltown that I would say is definitely haunted. I never actually saw anything but often heard unexplained noises. There were times I'd sleep on the settee as I'd be too scared to go upstairs, there was just such a bad feeling. My friend who was very psychic refused to go upstairs when she came to my house, but she'd never tell me why.

Jon
I would'nt mind tagging along if you have room.
PM me, woops sorry you can't.
Let me know if you have room.
Classic Rock 08-09-2003, 10:52 My pub is spooky. A glass fell off the shelf in room 2 a few weeks ago when there was nobody around and you can sometimes see the odd shadow pass by.
I've been woken up before in my house by what sounded like a young child giggling outside my bedroom door. Very strange.
cosywolf 08-09-2003, 15:30 I'd go in an instant, but not this weekend.
All the cool spirits will be at the Sheffield Fayre:P

Hi Pink
I have lived near or in Rotherham for most my life - the place energies are weird as are the people who are entiwined in it's history.
Swinton, Mexborough, Wath, Wentworth - all that area in particular and all the bits surrounding. Would NOT advise a trip to Hoober Stand unaccompanied - particular knowing how you are.

He dropped dead in the doorway of your pub about 10 years ago.
Nutronic 09-09-2003, 01:21 I enjoy all the paranormal stuff alot and would have gone with you but I guess its too late now, where is the house your going to and is it possible to take some pics for us aswell.....

pontious 09-09-2003, 08:06 Are you taking Yvette Fielding and Derek Accura with you??
(Watch 'Most Haunted' on The Living channel, its a reight laff!)
They do the same thing and stay all night in spooky houses!!Derek is a scouse medium who is regulary possessed and Ms Fielding usually ends up soiling her undercrackers!!

What was he like in terms of personality? Was he a large built or slightly built man? I've seen a slightly built figure/shadow in the pub.
PaulTansley 09-09-2003, 13:18 Jack was a stocky man about 5'5 ish grey hair on the side of his head and bald on top.
His nose was slightly pointed and i would certainly say he was well into his 50s.
He worked at Moorfoot on the rear goods door.
Personality well, he could be sharp, would not take no lip from anyone and a strong bloke but a nice bloke if you knew him.
He was in the Jolly Buffer every day.
Background Story
The People who lived there heard noises around 4am keys would rattle and a noise of sawing was heard and the sound of someone walking up the stairs.
We arrived at the house in Birley in high sprits.
we entered the house in total darkness around 10.30pm (Saturday 13th September 2003) the smell of damp was everywhere.
We turned on the living room light and we began to explore the house. In the main bedroom we found a homemade crucifix made out of wood fixed by glue to the bedroom wall.
We set up our equipment in the childrens bedroom where the noises we said to be coming from...A voice activated cassette and a infrared beam that activates a sound when the beam is broken and a video camera with night vision(plays in total darkness)
and then we waited and waited and waited.
To cut a long story short..while we was upstairs we heard two noises downstairs but we never saw or heard anything upstairs.
PaulTansley 14-09-2003, 20:29 Apologies Jon for not getting up but i did'nt get back from the coast until tonight (Sunday).
Sounds like a non productive night but I supose most vigils are unsuccessfull.
Ghosts never appear when asked.

I may be considered biased but wouldn't someone suddenly installing a homemade crucifix upset any entity pressent in the house???
Any more background??
Moon
Without going into too much detail. The crucifix was this persons last resort and things kept happening after the cross was fixed to the wall...
I can see your point thou
We are going back to the house again this weekend to do more tests 8)
*Twinkle* 17-09-2003, 19:18 I keep having freaky dreams about having an evil spirit in my house....lol! I always come up with a remedy of getting a priest in....but my Mum always says no in the dream...
Just so I know, if it ever did happen....would a priest get rid of the evil spirit or have I been watching too many films?
alchresearch 17-09-2003, 19:31 You'll be pleased (and maybe amazed) to hear that the Church of England has a proper exorcist in every region. But it's not something they wish to advertise.
*Twinkle* 17-09-2003, 19:33 Aaaahhhhh thats eased my mind!!!
I did an interview with a minister not too long back and he told me about the houses he's been to exorcise..and the other ministers in Sheffield who do the same thing.
They won't advertise doing this but if you visit them they will help you.
Moon Maiden 17-09-2003, 19:45 scrap that last post Jon I forgot you actually wanna record something. :D
and judging the way my puter crashed as I posted that message I wouldn't say it was a good suggestion. As who it was good for is a different matter.

Why would a home made crucifix upset any entity moon ?
Sheaf Publishing on Upper Allen Street have published a book of all of the supposed haunted places in Sheffield and surrounding area. I cant remember the name or the author but you can get it in most if not all local book shops, including Smiths etc, at the local history shelf, or the publishers have them for sale at their place

well look at it like this. You ....your soul has been trapped in an realm completely devoid of normal human contact. For whatever reasons (normally upsetting ones) you are stuck here and have to make the best of people moving in and out of your home, trying best you can to communicate in some way.
Wouldn't you be a bit pi**** if after all your efforts you ended up scaring the living daylights out of someone to the point they thought you were evil enough to install a crucifix??
Moon MAiden
No I wouldn't be pi**** at all Moon. I would do something very different indeed :)
Getting pi**** hardly ever helps anyone, living or (i guess) dead.
Could the placing of a crucifix also be an act of love and healing?
Perhaps feeling loved would enable the conciousness or energy of the inorganic beings to evolve as required.
Love conquers all don't you think ....
Moon Maiden 20-09-2003, 08:36 Love conquers all don't you think ....
try explaining that one to a demon??
You also have to realise that alothough people will retain much of what they were, they are not as we are and are privvy to different information. Whilst this may appear like commons we are dealing with a different species. Thought processes alter.
This is of course considering that you believe in all this ghost stuff and various theories that go with it :)
Moon Maiden
... already have tried that Moon.
Doing nothing and loving / having no harmful intent to another entity is a very 'powerful' thing indeed ...
But then ... there is 'doing nothing' and there is 'doing nothing'.
I generally believe only what I experience for myself and I have my own perspectives and understandings on stuff Moon.

Don't we all!
... already have tried that Moon.
Now this I would love to hear about - did you happen to get a name?? :D
Moon
Not something I like to talk about Moon !! ... and certainly not in such a public place with someone I hardly know.
Sorry to be such a tease !! :o
Some SERIOUSLY scary s**t out there ... and many entities in the universe use violence to survive ... lions tigers demons and drunk yobs on a friday night out ...
Is not good to think that you can just go with the flow and be all lovey dovey and you will be safe from harm.
What do you think Moon ??
Jamie
Moon Maiden 20-09-2003, 10:47 see pm
:D
As to what I think about it all - I am all to aware through experience and obvious practises of the things that await those who are prepared to search

AND THEY HAVE BOTH MADE A GREAT DEAL OF MONEY OUT OF IT. IT WOULD BE NICE IF THEY COULD SEE A SPIRIT - JUST ONCE. I THINK YVETTE WOULD PASS OUT. I USUALLY FALL ASLEEP. TOTAL CRAP BUT IT'S GOT ME HOOKED.
REPO MAN 08-08-2006, 17:25 hm very interesting !
