surely not lack of trade. If anything alot of these convenience shops seem to be understaffed if anything.

Tesco Metro prices are higher than their other stores due to the location, but still managed to be cheaper than Budgens - in fact anybody who goes in there knows Budgens was more expensive than other shops around the area.

i used to use them all the time. queues were less, and they had some decent offers, i disagree with #5 tesco didn't enjoy a particular price advantage for the goods i wanted to buy - but #1 is correct. it were the tesco nearby wot done it. one only had to compare the obvious difference in trade between the 2 shops in the months preceeding budgens' closure to realise it was only a matter of time.

its shame it closed as many students were coming back, they used to hire students.

the queue in tescos is too long now.

TESCO, aiming for world domination, will soon have close to 70,000 sq feet of selling space within 1 mile radius of the West Bar, they now have The old safeway store at Netherthorpe, New store planned for the Wicker, Aa convenience store in the new flats off st Phillips road and a new convenience store near the riverside pub on the ring road, now tell that this is encouraging competition.

Probably because it was incredibly expensive.
