I was a pupil at Southey Green Middle school in the the 1960's, the Sheffield 5 area. There was a fair sized Machin Family in school at that time.

This info is sparse, I appreciate that but i thought it might point you in the right direction.

Again, this information is a bit random but I was actually at school with a James Machin - Hurlfield, 1980-1984. If I recall he is/was on Friends Reunited so he might be some help. A bit of a shot in the dark but maybe the name was handed down....

of course Fullwood i do believe was open in the 30s some people have had luck in getting info fm the holders of the records.
