grooming brushes: what you you use with your dogs?

My 5.5 month old puppy has recently started moulting loads.he's got short hair ( like a labrador) - and I've got it all over me too :suspect:

I've heard about rubber static brushes, and wondered if other pet owners recommend them.

also what's comfortable to use?
I've seen a rubber oblong static grooming 'brick' on ebay, but not good if you've got any grip problems.

The rubber slicker brushes are really good for shorthaired dogs - we use one on our dobe and it is very efficient at fetching out those itchy little hairs that seem to drop all over the house and sneak down the sofa or stick to the cushions.

We bought one with an adjustable rubble strap attached to it which is great if you have problems gripping- it wont slip out of your hand. I cant remember the brand name but I have a snealing suspicion I bought it from Wilkos Pet dept or one of the pet stores.

Hound gloves are really good for short haired dogs too and really cheap from wilkinsons :)

You know how much Takara sheds, I've had the most success with a shedding blade (make sure you get the one for short haired dogs).

You have to be careful not to press too hard as it is quite sharp, but they're much easier to use that I first thought (and it's not that easy to press too hard) and both my dogs love theirs - they go all gooey when it comes out so it must feel nice!

You can also get vacgrooms (which I think are a really good idea and I would use one if it wasn't for the fact both my dogs hate the hoover!) it's an attachment that fits most hoovers/vaccum cleaners and it sucks up the hair as you groom the dog!

The other things suggested are good too but I personally didn't get on with the hound glove - not sure why as they're always recommended!
