View Full Version : A massive Thank you to South Yorkshire Police
Plain Talker 04-11-2007, 20:08 The local police have had a lot of bad press lately, what with one thing and another. They have come in for a lot of criticism.
However, I want to say a huge thank you to them, over an incident that happened last night.
About 3.30 am I was disturbed by someone prowling, on my garden.
There is no access through my garden, and no earthly reason why anyone should be on my property.
I was extremely frightened, terrifed, in fact, that someone should be prowling.
I phoned the police. The woman on the other end of the phone line was wonderful, and would not let me put the phone down until she was certain the police officers had arrived, which they did, in a matter of minutes.
they checked all round the property, but whoever had been there had gone.
they were wonderful, and reassuring, (I did feel like I'd had them out on a bit of a a wild goose chase, as they had found no-one) they told me that there was not a problem about me calling them, and that if anything futher happened, I should not hesitate to call them back.
I was so grateful to them. They arrived so quickly, it was very reassuring.
Nice to hear a 'good news' story on here for once. Hope you're feeling Ok and won't lose sleep tonight.
Plain Talker 04-11-2007, 20:19 hmm, well, after last night's scare, I didn't get to sleep till nearly 7 this morning.

Oh PT, glad it worked out ok and at least you know that if you have to call them again, they will be responding as quickly for you. Bet you are not looking forward to bedtime tonight though hey:suspect: but just tell yourself, it would have been someone looking for a bush or something...sweet dreams:)

irenewilde 04-11-2007, 21:19 A similar thing happened to me a while back. Don't know what woke me up but I looked out of the window and saw someone creeping round the house. It was about 2.30 am on Sunday morning and when I called the police I thought they'd be far too busy dealing with city centre problems to come out. But they came and quickly too. They were great. But it shook me up terribly PT, so I know how you feel. I couldn't get back to sleep that night and felt a bit jumpy for a few nights afterwards. But things were O.K. and I'm sure they will be for you too. Like my incident, it was probably just some lowlife randomly trying his luck. He's probably in another area completely tonight.

Sure, yeah, I'd do that, in a New-York Minute, considering it's completely contrary to police safety advice about not confronting intruders! (and the fact that it was 3.30 am, and I'm on my jack-jones!)
Very clever advice.

You're on the wrong thread. This, for a pleasant change, is a thread praising the police for a job well done. Lets stick to topic.
