View Full Version : CCTV on Divison Street?

I quite often see news articles about how Sheffield is leading the way in using CCTV to fight crime. However, while walking down Division Street towards the city centre, I failed to spot a single camera (the ones on West Street are unmissable). Are there any cameras on Division St? As it's meant to be one of Sheffield's most "trendy" and busiest streets, surely it's a prime candidate
for having CCTV? Or did I just not see the cameras?

Not seen any, but I would welcome some.
Myself and my girlfriend went to the Devonshire Cat the other night. We both commented on feeling intimidated as we walked from West St. past West one and the skate park. I noticed there was a "Help Point" which someone told me turns CCTV cameras on you (if you can manage to get to it!)

I would deffinatly like to see them. After reading in the Star the other night that muggings on devonshire green are soaring you would think that it would be a prime candidate for them.

some companies lease out windows for use of invisible CCTV cameras, look for any strange circles in the glass of any window..

We need many more cameras in use at night, although It doesn't affect me these days, as I dont go walking any more after dark. All the perverts and criminals looking for victims come out at night, so, it is best to look over ones shoulder to avoid being attacked, by some stupoid drug crazed lout with nothing on his mind but violence.

Can't be much consolation to those folks who have paid £80 - £200k on the developments around West One and up on West St.

Yep, my boyfriend had his wallet stolen there.... He was approached by some little *bleep bleep bleeeeeeeeeeeeeep* who tried to offer her services (you can imagine what services...) and as he was telling her to go away she stole the wallet...

So beware!

Yeah I've spotted that one too now. Are there any others? I can't imagine that having that one camera for the whole street can do much? I say bring back the high profile policing again :) We all pay enough council tax already, it's about time we got something for it.
