View Full Version : Boxing - The most devastating KO
Watching Soccer AM the question was asked what was the best KO off all time. So which gets your vote.
I'll start it off with our very own Bomber Graham fighting Julian Jackson for the World title:
OUCH (http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=Eb5ycOudzPM)
It has to be one of the occasions where a boxer has been killed stone dead by the punch, surely...
In fairness to Bomber he was up against a guy who had to be one of the hardest pound for pound punchers ever.
Up to that punch he was dishing out a boxing lesson to Jackson.
donuticus 03-11-2007, 13:46 This one takes some beating. http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=fvudviSAv60

NEKRO138 03-11-2007, 18:17 Judging by the reaction of the bloke in this one, it was devastating

LFCMadPaul 03-11-2007, 20:00 After knocking the heavyweight champion from piller to post for just over a round, a certain 20 year old delivers a punch that to some looked average. The affect it had on the champ however was devastating! The commentator at the time reckoned the champion to look like a baby in a playpen:

LFCMadPaul 03-11-2007, 20:07 Brilliant thread by the way!!!
Really enjoyed watching some of those clips!

What a fighter ,could have been the best ever..until he signed up to go the distance with Robin Givens
sallonoroff 06-11-2007, 12:47 I quite liked boxing until i saw these clips! :D
Truly brutal.
I think i prefer the "endurance" fights where the boxers just spill a lot of blood...
.
briggy1967 06-11-2007, 16:00 Bomber Graham Everytime, all the Lights went out
Lets not forget Lennox Lewis getting his revenge on Rahman:
GET DOWN (http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=AI8bBYwLGUA)
From memory, Carl Thompson knocking out Sebatian Rothman. Rothman just fell over like a plank straight down onto his face. Also Wayne Alexander's knockout of Takaloo, which would have knocked out an elephant.

Totally ruined him. Just looking at the clip of him at 20 years of age, he had everything. He then met Robin :suspect:.
He then let a money searching little hooker into his room at 2am in the morning (she was wanting an autograph, yeah right) and that was it, he would never be the same again. Shame really, he probably could have gone on to be the worlds best ever!

i was at that fight in benalmedena spain , talking to harry carpenter after he said that was the hardest punch hed ever seen anyone take on the chin .bomber was hammering jackson who was against the ropes ,the ref was just stepping in to stop the fight when ,BANG jackson hit him with that punch ,bomber was out twitching on the floor . in the interview after jackson said "i could see three of him and knew it was over so i thought to myself hit the one in the middle and i did" bomber was about half a second away from being world champ.
You have to consider the quality of the person getting knocked out.
Roberto Duran had a granite chin.
No wonder they called Thomas Hearns 'The Hitman.'

Great point!!!!!!!
What a fight! Past fighters, after being beaten up by Duran, have commented on not just the fact that he hurt when he punched, but also the fact that a sledgehammer would struggle to put the man down!
Hearns was a great fighter, a fighter with massive amounts of spirit!
Just ask Marvin!

marvin hagler knocked hearns out in the third round of a brutal toe to toe fight
marvin hagler knocked hearns out in the third round of a brutal toe to toe fight
But Hagler couldn't knock Duran out when they met in '83.

He did you're right. My point was that Hearns had the heart of a lion!
The fight you refer too could have gone either way. Like you said, it was a brutal, toe to toe fight!
This fight was at a time when boxing was at it's peak! Most fights at that time, nobody wanted to miss!
Few and far between these days!

Absolutely agree.
Sugar Ray Leonard beat them all, Hagler, Hearns and Duran.

Just goes to show the level of competition in those days!
Can we honestly say that there is that same number of competitors, all at around the same level of talent and passion nowadays?
The answer is no! Nowhere near!!
