I had this problem, it turned out to be a broken fan on the graphics card. I got a new card for next to nothing on ebay.
Start -->
Run-->
(type) msconfig (return)
click startup tab
copy contents into a notepad file & post here.
Wait for a geek to tell you what to take out.
But first of all download, install, update & run both Spybot Search & Destroy & Spyware Guardian, FROM THEIR OFFICIAL SITES.
What anti-virus/firewall/browser are you using?
Hiya Panda79.
First thing to do as mentioned above is to run some scans. I would run Spybot search and destroy, Ad-aware SE and a trojan scan. I would also run CWShredder just to be on the safe side.
All the programs mentioned can be found here:

If this does not work then it could be a overheating problem in which case come back and we'll try again ;) .
Let us know how you get on :thumbsup:

If it's freezing after 15 mins check temps in BIOS and post 'em here - should be F2 or DEL usually on start up. Although the fact that it sometimes reboots straight away doesn't give indication of a temp. problem.
Did you install anything (software or hardware) on or just prior to Saturday? Have you tried a system restore to a known working date? Does it only freeze when doing one task or is it seemingly random?
:rant: n luck at the moment im convinced i have a virus but my norton 2005 has not picked it up i dont no if this can help but when it trys to load up i get the windows xp logo but the bar what flashes along as it loads up is sometimes not there......... my browser is firefox and i have norton2005 firewall and anti virus and i also run the latest version of ad aware:help: :help: :help:

Good advice!......
Also run sfc /scannow from the command prompt. You'll need your XP disk. (Note the space after sfc)
:clap: well since i last posted on this thread my comp seems to be working fine 2 days without any crashes .......the thing i wanna ask now is it possible that the cold weather could have been causing the crashing ,the room where the computer is has not heat in there or maybe i was hacked

Very unlikely to be honest...
However it might be explained if you have a dry solder issue (ie: one or more of the circuit boards has a circuit that has broken) then you would see some intermittent connection which could cause the problem.
Now that the room has heated up somewhat your circuitboards could be warmer, the circuits have expanded just enough to retain a connection and as a result it's still working...
All this is guess work in respect of your particular PC though...
