View Full Version : Food.... glorious food! JonJParr 25-01-2005, 13:03 If you could have any meal tonight cooked for you what type of food would you choose? Tracie 25-01-2005, 13:08 Oh yes please! I'd love to have someone come round tonight and and pamper me :P I love pasta, so Italian all the way. Lots of opportunity for Lady and The Tramp style spaghetti moments too... awwww... owdlad 25-01-2005, 13:15 Indian for me, the subtle blend of spices that create every variation from sweet enough for a baby, through to hot enough to rip your innards to pieces. Drooooolll (invites to free tasting sessions especially welcome) :P JonJParr 25-01-2005, 13:15 Originally posted by TracieJC Oh yes please! Lots of opportunity for Lady and The Tramp style spaghetti moments too... awwww... If it's Italian that tickles your tastebuds try this... Chargrilled Chicken and Vegetables with green pesto on a bed of linguine (serves 2) Chicken Breast 1 Red & Yellow sweet pepper 1 Courgette 1 Onion Dried Linguine Green pesto Brush the chicken breast (cut into goujons) with oil and season with cracked black pepper. Place in pan (I used a Grillet which has the ridges in for chargrilling but you could use a health grill) and brush with some wine (white or rose - whichever you're having with dinner). Turn halfway through cooking. Remove the chicken once cooked and cut into smaller bitesize pieces. Do the same with your vegetables. Cook linguine as directed and drain. Throw all the vegetables and chicken into a large pan and add 2 or 3 teaspoons of green pesto. Enjoy with the rest of the wine you used for cooking. scottf 25-01-2005, 13:21 Nice copy and paste jon :D I make a mean spag bol but if someone was cooking for me it would have to be crispy duck- mmmmmm!!! :D JonJParr 25-01-2005, 13:27 Originally posted by scottf Nice copy and paste jon :D I make a mean spag bol but if someone was cooking for me it would have to be crispy duck- mmmmmm!!! :D Yeah I copied it and pasted if from an email I sent to my mother a week ago after I invented it! By the way, I'm a trained chef! owdlad 25-01-2005, 13:37 John, have you tried making the pesto wirh Calabrese, it serves the purpose of giving the kids a disguised potrion of Veg, and tastes pretty good too. cosywolf 25-01-2005, 13:47 Oh dear god...please stop it. It's evil torturing a pregnant woman with thoughts of food when she's at work(and not just thoughts, you nasty people, but descriptions and recipes!)... As for offering to come round and do the cooking - I chose Chinese, I'm rather partial to a well-turned veggie spring roll, anything to do with king prawns, and I like to eat around 7pm, thanks. :D :D :D Cosy JonJParr 25-01-2005, 13:50 Originally posted by owdlad John, have you tried making the pesto wirh Calabrese, it serves the purpose of giving the kids a disguised potrion of Veg, and tastes pretty good too. Owdlad, I like Calabrian cooking mainly because of the ingredients used (aubergine, anchovies, sweet peppers)!! I'm kind of a purist when it comes to pesto and like to make my own from green olives, pine nuts, garlic, capers, basil leaves, extra virgin olive oil and a little parmesan but I can imagine that the onions, tomato and olives covers the taste of vegetables really well. You might want to try them on Ratatouille also (courgette, tomato, onion and garlic all sweated together in a frying pan). It's delicious and very easy to make! With pretty much any selection of ingredients i could knock up something half decent, probably with italian, chinese, french etc. influences, but i've learnt from British Chefs so that's where my vote goes. I don't think the catorgories should be that rigid anyway so i'd like a combination. -PK- BoroughGal 23-04-2005, 09:26 It'd have to be Japanese for me. I can have Indian, Chinese, Italian any night of the week, but Japanese is a bit harder to come by (yeah, yeah, before you say it, I know there's a restaurant on London Road). I love the little sushi/terriaki lunch boxes you get from supermarkets, and like that whole idea of sitting on the floor with friends. But seeing as JJP isn't cooking for us, it's all irrelevant!
