View Full Version : Wanting FREE Microchipping for a 15 week old Puppy
Bonzo is 15 weeks old and very active and although he is good with recall he is also good at losing those little barrels that say who he belongs to!!!!
Is there anywhere he can be micro chipped for free - have done a search and find that there are events from time to time which offer free micro chipping. Is there another of these events in the pipeline?
Thank you
shihtzumad 01-11-2007, 11:11 Only RSPCA do them on their events day, have you been on the website are rang them up to see when the next day is.

Tried their website first....as wasn't sure who holds the free chipping events.....nothing listed for the rest of this year.....only Christmas events to raise money. :(
neeeeeeeeeek 01-11-2007, 11:27 I thought it was only about a tenner anyway.
xxhunniixx 01-11-2007, 11:30 its 35 at our vets well worth it if he was to get out!
dane-katie 01-11-2007, 11:30 Yeah RSPCA do it for a tenner, we have seen this at Bawtry and you can just nip in when they are open and they will do it for you
It's £20 at our vets a small price to pay to ensure your pet is registered
shihtzumad 01-11-2007, 12:26 ring round your local vets for cheapest quote, am sure gemina does microchipping.
The Dogs Trust also hold freebie days- that's where the Molly monster was chipped.
If you find somewhere vaguely local I'll take you to the event julado.
Broomhill Vets do it for £15 (the price of the chip)...
xxhunniixx your vet are bloomin' expensive!
I'd be inclined to pay Julado - it's a small price to pay if you ever need it and its best to get it done asap if he's going offlead imho.

Yes I do microchipping but Middlewood is to far for me to travel.
I charge £15.00
shihtzumad 01-11-2007, 22:59 Have you tryed ringing rspca up and asking them when the next free microchipping day is , might be worth a try

I didn't mainly because I would have thought that sort of information would be on the website thus avoiding people like me constantly ringing up to ask when the next free micro chipping session is
Thanks to everyone so far though for their input....and thanks to Medusa.....Bonzo doesn't travel too well in a car!!! :D
ELSoames 02-11-2007, 17:28 I emailed rspca when i was pricing up micro-chipping. Think it was £8.50, then i got them all jabbed up as well as it was cheaper than my vets.
My vet for a chip is around £24.

Have just noticed there is still interest in this thread....
Bonzo is now about 28 weeks old and not only has he been microchipped but 2 weeks ago was neutered......and now he is well quiet.....no more jumping up and getting all excited over nothing. :D

It really is suprising neutering can have a really good effect on some dogs :)
