I've been harbouring the dream of living a life like Hugh Whittingstall of River Cottage fame (TV) for a few years now.
I have a big enough garden to accommodate a chicken house & enclosure which I plan to build myself.
I have even found plans & illustrations off the internet.

What I'm after are details of reputable local dealers where I can get my hands on a few good layers & equipment such as feeders, grain, heating/lighting units. etc.
I already grow my own organic veg & have 1 pear & 2 apple trees.
This is the latest 'Good-Life' venture I'm planning.

All sensible advice greatly appreciated.

(Sarcastic & frivolous comments welcomed) ;)

Check your house deeds (and other junk that comes with it). You may be breaking the law by keeping them if your paperwork says you can't.

Which category does that fit into?

it's OK, I can. As long as it's not for commercial use.

And no, I don't plan to have a cockerell either!

You mean you're considering cooking and eating 'placenta celebration pudding' :hihi:
That guy can be so gross sometimes:gag: :gag:

My wifes boss get her poultry from 'fairs' such as the Penistone Show, the great yorkshire show etc. Good luck
