View Full Version : Ok - you've won £15 million on the lottery...
coopster1974 24-01-2005, 21:04 What would you buy first?
Mine would be an Aston Martin Vanquish S - fully specced
As long as I have that, the wife can do whatever she wants!!!
DaBouncer 24-01-2005, 21:06 You mean after my house?
I already have a list of fancy cars my bloke wants should a lottery win come our way, once they're ordered I would buy a big old house with a massive garden.
But as we didn't even get one number at the weekend - its back to work again!
Pay off all my debts, then buy a house or several.
15 million lottery tickets - youd be a dead cert for the next draw!!!!!
Nah, ive got modest desires. Pay off my mortgage, buy a car that starts when i turn the key, a bit to charity (charidy mate :hihi: ) and then free drinks for every forum member! wahoo!
Then retire to the peaks and become a recluse/hermit/crazy inventor :D
Only ever played the lottery twice so I don't think I will be getting the £15 million..
If I won then Id go as far away as possible..
WallBuilder 24-01-2005, 21:20 Take a nice long holiday away, somewhere were no-one knows me so I could think things through and decide how to avoid all my new BEST friends.

Just think how much gum you could buy :D :hihi: And mirror shades are a must for you too deej :P
Buy a mansion in Fulwood, buy a Porsche 911, Aston DB9, and live off the interest of the rest in a work-free lifestyle.
royjames 24-01-2005, 21:48 Give £5million to the BNP and go and live in California.
Lay on the beach all day and party all night.
Get myself a massive house with a garage like this

Not forgetting the GT3 ;) Would also buy my parents thier council house lol j/k.
Plain Talker 24-01-2005, 22:08 if i won 15 million,
The first thing I'd do is set up trust funds for my grandkids, so that they could concentrate on getting through university without having to work or have to rely on student loans.
I' d buy myself a nice house, (there's one particular house a couple of roads away, that I love. It's a big, old victorian house, and it's really pretty).
I'd do a bit of a Ray-and-Barbara Wragg thing, and I'd "adopt" the local Nursery-infant and Junior school which is a bit underpriveliged, (my grandkids go there, i was a pupil there as a kid) I'd treat the kids to trips to the pantomime and to the football etc. I'd endow charities in my area like surestart.
I'd make sure that the charity that I work for would never, ever need to go begging to another trust, ever again... I would give it enough money to be self sufficient.
my only fear would be all the "new friends" that i'd acquire. on coming into the money.

SpiderPete 24-01-2005, 22:17 15million ...... I would be happy with 1 million
Look after the relatives, then sod off with the wife & kids to live somewhere nice an warm, sunshine, cold beer, swimming pool and servants to do my bidding.Bliss sheer bliss
Don_Kiddick 24-01-2005, 22:32 I'd buy a new bum 'cos my old one's got a big smelly windy hole in it! :hihi:
limpetboy 24-01-2005, 22:32 - the salon where my g/f works
- a little cottage by the sea to live in
- a villa somewhere hot and an apartment in New York
- the house up on Shirebrook Road (the big white one at the corner of Kent Road) for my ma
- put enough away so I could live off the interest without having to work too hard
as for the rest, god knows, £15m is a lot to spend
:hihi:
bobsyouruncle 24-01-2005, 23:18 i'd pay off all my debts, then with the other £35 go on the ****.....
Don_Kiddick 24-01-2005, 23:41 Seriously...
I'd buy a huge stately type home - like the one at Wentworth
& have it kitted out into the finest nursing/ residential home in the UK.
Residency would be completely free to all the old folk and War Veterans who have worked day in day out all their life &
retired with bugger-all.
The staff would be highly motivated & go on regular free study days on 'Medicine-for-the-elderly' for example.
And they would get a realistic wage that reflected their skills.
It would have entertainment laid on every night with a cinema,
a stage for local Am.Op.Grp productions, a bingo hall, a bar,
pottery & fine art classes. Wine making groups.
This would also provide some income generation.
Day trips shopping or to the coast.
Free trips to war graves.
There would be huge gardens & an orchard to grow their own food using the skills of the old gardeners with a team of young helpers.
The old folk would themselves be encouraged to teach their skills to groups of genuinely interested kids picked form local schools to help on a voluntary work experience/learning basis.
My list list would grow by the day I think.
This would allow any inheritance to be diverted to their
kids / grandkids (as it should be) for them to get a foot on the
ladder of life.
Just a few ideas so far...
I would like my own dark room so I can start doing b/w photography again.
£15M ... First, i'd book into a health farm for a month and use the time to think about all the people who have helped me out in the past, who have been good and/or kind to me. Each one will get a 'reward'
Then, a month later when I'm slim again i'll go on a shopping spree and get some lovely clothes.
After that I'd like to buy a big house and do it up and adopt or foster young people and give them a good solid start in life in a home where they are loved and respected and encouraged to do the best they can.
I suppose with £15M i'd be able to afford to have a couple of horses or ponies in the paddock so that my 'kids' could learn to ride if they wanted to. That would be heaven!
Probably give half of if away to people I know, family and friends.
Tour the world backpacker style or in a fancy VW splitscreen camper.
Then deceide how I felt about the world..
Buy the most expensive guitar I can find
Buy the most expensive amp I can find :P
Hmm a million of it to charity
Buy somewhere for me to live
Carry on studying
Hmmmm. I'd pay for my sisters house to be redecorated and the bathroom fitted out (she won't live anywhere else so buying her a new place is out of the question), and I'd sort her out with a new car of her choice.
I'd give enough to my parents for them to be able to retire early and go and live in NZ, perhaps set my mum up with her dream coffee shop if that was still what she wanted.
My brother would get a flat of his own complete with a very tolerant housekeeper :D I'll clear up his debts as well :)

And donate a few hundred thousand to your mate Deej for him to carry on with his research into the mysteries of a womans mind.. The bills will run high on this research :D

Also time consuming and exhausting.
Fun none the less ;)
£15 Miliion?! Hmm, well I'd pay Mum and Dad's mortgage off for them, buy a house for myself in either Grimsby, Cleethorpes or Wadsley Bridge, give some money to charity and then buy some stuff off the net I want like games, DVD etc.. Then I'd chuck the rest in the Bank and live off the interest.
Oh and I'd also sign up for 8 Mb Broadband, hence the decision to try and get a house in Wadsley Bridge to be nearby to the local BB exchange.

Another Grimsby ex-pat per chance?
Surely no-one would choose to live there otherwise.
Lickable 25-01-2005, 09:42 5 Million would go to Selected Charitys.
5 Million would go to the family.
5 Million would keep me happy in a nice big house in the country, and numerous holidays around the world.
The shock would probably kill me  At least my kids would get to party :partyhat:
Get it in the bank so the interest starts accumulating!!!
2m to my mum and dad
2m to my sister
1m to Rotherham hospital
1m to The home where my grandad lives
1/2mil to my old school
1/2mil to sheffield united to buy a decent striker!! haahaa!!
then i don't know- probably start my own business (non-profitmaking of course) to help people!!

I don't think even £15 million will be enough to get through University in a few years time.
Skatiechik 25-01-2005, 11:52 Find a house in the country, making sure there are no neighbours for miles.
Make sure it has a nice big climate-controlled barn and workshop for classic car restoration and storage
Buy a few cars, the partner a few motorbikes.
Use the rest of the money to live on, whilst I re-train myself to do a job I will enjoy, or set up my own business doing something I enjoy.
limpetboy 25-01-2005, 12:22 And the prize for the best post in the whole thread goes to this man...

Honestly can't think of a better way of spending the money. Genius.
True - a very nice gesture but if it actually happened i would be suprised - not knowing joe i cannot comment but very few people in this life are that un-selfish!!

Then we should meet, my friend.
I may restore your faith in human nature
Here's a small example - I won £100 the week before Christmas in the works raffle.
Brilliant! Just in time for Christmas...
What would you have done with it ???
Here's what I did...
£50 to the Ghurka ex-serviceman's charity.
£20 to an old mate who suffers depression & is terminally unemployable - so he could have a bit better Christmas.
(I normally slip a £fiver in his Christmas card anyway).
The last £30 I squandered on slightly better Christmas prezzies for friends & family that they wouldn't normally have received.
But that's just me... Not looking for a medal, & not religious......
I'd treat my parents to death, would pay off their mortgage, buy them the house of their dreams, the cars of their dreams and kit the house out. Then take them on a huge shopping spree to buy whatever they wanted
I'd get my sister whatever she wanted and sort her out with a house and car for when she passes her test. And a dog, she's always wanted a dog!!!
I'd pay other family members' mortgages off and take everyone out for a big posh slap up meal.
I would carry on working, where I don't know but I would get bored sitting round all day, when everyone else is still living their lives.
I'd give some to charity and then keep the rest for myself, with the intention of saving some of it for my eventual kids
:)

only kidding joe i know this place would collopse with out ya;)
jackthedog 26-01-2005, 10:21 Pretty much what Skatiechick said to be honest, except the bit about buying the partner motorbikes.
The vehicles would include:
- 1968 Ford Mustang 390GT (in Oakland Green)
- 1929 Auburn Boat-tail (Black)
- Overfinch 630R (Black)
- Alfa Romeo SZ (Red of course)
- Ford RS200 (White)
I'd set up my dream business with the rest of the dough.
Sorted. :)
fnkysknky 26-01-2005, 18:21 Don_Kiddick - very nice suggestion but I'm afraid you'd need more than £15 million if you planned on purchasing a large stately home, rennovating what needs it etc.
Anyway as for me, I'd help out friends and family and then spend the rest of my days travelling and partying :D
Give lots to friends and family and with the rest i`d buy some land and build some nice buildings with lots of grass in the grounds, get all the poor animals out of the places that are going to put them to sleep and employ a vet and and some of the people i work with now, we would then run our own little animal sanctuary where no animal would be put to sleep and if homes couldn`t be found for them we would just keep them, they wouldn`t be in kennels but would have a decent life with lots of attention and care and love n stuff.

Well it could earn me a few bob extra
I'd buy first class tickets to fly back to England and then have a limousine pick us up and drive us to Mum and Dad's house in Sheffield for a decent cuppa :) Oh and then we'd go on a world cruise
