Like a fool, I have been persuaded by a friend of a friend to let him build me a PC.

Anyway, I ordered all the components he suggested from ebuyer & they arrived the next day. A week went past until this friend told me the motherboard was faulty and I've returned it. Since then, I've emailed/phoned ebuyer asking which motherboard is suitable for the rest of the components. (The one I ordered has now been discontinued).

The CPU has a 1333FSB socket and the graphics card is PCI-E. Ebuyer don't seem interested in the fact that I'd order a suitable motherboard from them in a flash. Any suggestions?

Can you give any details of the mobo you did actually order?

Yes, mate.

It was a Foxconn P4M9007MB-8RS2H Socket 775 P4M900 onboard VGA DDR2 mATX.

Firstly, they have 180 odd of the Foxconn P4M9007MB-8RS2H in stock..

secondly, the Foxconn P4M9007MB-8RS2H is only 1066FSB, not 1333, so its likley the board isnt/wasnt faulty, just was the wrong board and your friend was spinning you a line..

So another board, you'll end up spending about £70, as 1333 boards cost more.... I would recomend the Asus P5N-E SLI 650i, (Quickfind: 125082) where-as the foxconn cost about £35, the asus costs more like £70 -- this is what happens when you buy a cheap (foxconn) board, and the wrong board in the first place :)

you mention a graphics card but bought a mobo with onboard graphics?

anyhow any p31 / p35 based board will do fine as will any g31 / g33 if you want onboard graphics

ps. what exactly have you bought for this computer?

yeah, you'll struggle with that Foxconn board, an dthat 1333FSB cpu, since that board only has a 1066FSB

couple of things regarding what you picked, if you went with the Antec NSK4480 you would have saved your self a tenner as that is the case and psu together,
But you really should have gone with the Antec Sonata III Piano Black Quiet Mid Tower Case - With 500W EarthWatts PSU for £70 which is v'good value, too late now though :P

i'd also have picked the Samsung SH-S203B over the optiarc as it's better

and i would have got the 16mb cache version of the harddrive for the extra £2
