Im thinking of getting a Parrot. Ive always had budgies as a child and I always wanted a Parrot but was never allowed. Ive always liked the idea of it talking and mimicking so I hear a African Grey is the best breed but im open to advice.

So now im my own man now I think its time.

However im on a pretty limited budget to get the bird and accessories.

Ive seen a few second hand cages on here but im think thinking about the cost of the bird.

Is there a decent way of getting hold of a bird relatively cheap.

To be honest, I usually rehome rescued animals as I enjoy a challenge so wouldnt mind a rescued bird if there is such a thing but dont know where to start looking.

Any advice?

hunnii is a good one to try- she tends to rehome all manner of waifs and strays. Also, rescue birds and older birds sometimes come up for sale because owners either dont realise these birds have such a long life expectancy or they get bored with them. Be aware though that such birds may come with baggage- they may have been taught inappropriate language, or not had enough human contact so may take longer to bond with you. I love parrots- have only owned parakeets, budgies, canaries, foreign finches - oh and a mynah bird for a short time - currently have my one remaining cockatiel Pooh who is now about 15 years old - doesnt talk but likes to whistle the Laurel and hardy theme tune and mumbles a lot.
