View Full Version : Any Gary Numan fans out there ?
Dj_Shadowman 24-01-2005, 12:36 Just to let you all know there is a Gary Numan disco on in Sheffield on March 8th.
Obviously this will involve just Numan / Numan related music - but with the added bonus of a live tribute band.
The is NO admission charge but the organisers would like to have an idea of the number of people willing to attend - so, if you would like to go, please reply to this post and I will announce further details - venue etc as soon as everything is confirmed.
Lickable 24-01-2005, 12:44 Thats just weird...
Where is it at? I am up for a weird night :D
Dj_Shadowman 24-01-2005, 12:46 Its going to be held at Cha Cha's on Fitzwilliam Street - next door to "The Mad Greek" restaurant...
Dj_Shadowman 20-02-2005, 12:40 Come on guys....is anyone interested in this ?
I am VERY interested, I have always like Numans music, I even once went to one of his live shows at the City Hall in the 90's, great gig, he really does give a great performance (yeah, I know, it's just a disco, not him himself, lol)
More info would be welcome.
FairyNormal 21-02-2005, 22:34 My first serious boyfriend when I was 14 was a 'Numaniod'. He dressed like him and was crazy about his music. I still have photos of him dressed in an awful suit with huge johdpur style trousers!
He lived in Donny with his nan and grandad, bless him!!!
Dj_Shadowman 22-02-2005, 10:38 Kry10......not only is it a disco but there is also a tribute band on as well.
I will pop down to see you on Friday afternoon and leave you some flyers (that is assuming that you are who I think you are !)
Would your first name begin with P and your other half's name begin with S and are both into rock music ?

Jabberwocky 02-08-2006, 14:27 Now, Im calmly goign to scroll down the list and search for Little lost soul.
Theres a slim chance that its there, but...im an obsessive where this man is concerned:D
muddycoffee 02-08-2006, 14:50 I've never been a fan of Gary Numan, but I was in the front row watching his show at the gilford festival last month. And it was entertaining. I was 2 metres away from his freakshow wife, and my god hasn't she got mental problems.
The set was much heavier than I was expecting, rather like 9 inch nails. Even the songs I didn't know were good. He's a bit full of himself, at one point he was just stood at the front of the stage in a jesus christ post and I said to my friend, "who does he think he is.. Jesus?", but that upset the young Newmanoid next to me, with that she told me in no uncertain terms that it was Gary Newman..
I would recommend his live show he was great

9 inch nails are a numan tribute band.:D
Ive followed this lunatic since 1979 and Ive listened to his music almost daily from then.
Hes been around while other bands and singers have faded into nothingness, hes rich and famous and STILL banging out some awesomely dark music!
He started entire genres of music off.
He..
Im in utube...im highly distracted! :D
Ghostrider 02-08-2006, 14:59 Numans wife, Gemma, does seem like a "freakshow" as you put it, but she is a really nice person at heart (met her on a few occasions)
As for Numan himself thinking he is god - its all part of the show - you wouldnt beleive he is the same person in real life.
Jabberwocky 02-08-2006, 15:01 Gary Numan and Gary Webb are different people. One a musician, the other a stage persona.

Err, yeah, more than once.
Used to get inside info on where the after show party was.
The good thing was, it was always a local nightclub so anyone who knew where it was could get in.

Well if you make it in december, we will see :hihi:
Jabberwocky 02-08-2006, 15:14 Well if you make it in december, we will see :hihi:
Oh ill make it, if I have to crawl there on lava Ill make it. Its the one last ambition I have before my eyes fail, to see Numan. I really thought Id lost the chance because I thought he`d stopped doing gigs.
I made my girlfriends family promise to help me get there as a combined birthday and Christmas prezzy.
A bloody direct hit in the forehead with a 120 megaton nuclear warhead wouldnt stop me from seeing this!:D
Ghostrider 02-08-2006, 15:19 My brother and myself will probably go to Nottingham on the 5th and then to Manchester on the 7th.
If the minibus has had the conversion done by them, we will just doss in it for the night so we can have a few beers (or find a B+B)
Jabberwocky 02-08-2006, 15:21 I wonder if theres a chance of getting some of the other forumers to go. thatd be brilliant!
